Picked up a Laeger wide cr500 flip top chassis, linkage, PEP ZPS rear shock, PEP ZPS LT fronts, Laeger LT +3 front end and airbox. Also came across some nice Baldwin stuff to go with my graphics and hubs.

nice I need to get my build going!!!post plenty of pics,it helps get our minds back on track
-
No PC or paint yet, just freshly sandblasted. Going with black on frame, subframe, swingarm, stem, not sure about a-arms. I'm going to see how they match up with the graphics kit. Not BRAND new frame but pretty close. Thanks for the compliments so far. A lot more to come. Started polishing the nerfs, bumper, grab bar and shrouds tonight.
-
Nice start Zak! You sell the other one or still got it?

X2 super nice start on parts
-
Man that's a great start right there. Keep us updated
So 2 race bikes for you now?
-
Ah. You suck Zak! J/k. Man, that's gonna be awesome! That thing's gonna be a whoops master and big jump destroyer.
-
Thanks everyone. No-link is gone but it went to a good home. Hopefully taking everything to powder this week. Lot's of work to do!
-
Dropped frame, subframe, swingarm, linkage, motor mounts and steering stem at the powder coater today. Probably not a lot of updates until I get it back unfortunately.
-
Wish I could find something like this locally. Would probably trade both my Rs for a laeger, roll, or Walsh lol
-
Starting off to be a nice build!
-
What color are you going with?
-
Thanks guys. T-bone, going with black on this one.
-
Not a lot of progress. Still waiting on pc to come back but I've been gathering parts. Swing arm bearing kit, steering stem bearing and seals and a cr500 linkage rebuild kit. Also put a light coat of paint on my radiator to freshen it up. Sending my cylinder out soon as well.

Finally! TM Designworks also hooked it up and that's the top of the Maul Tech clamp. Going pretty smooth so far except I'm an idiot and forgot the steering stem collar. Hopefully I get that and all of the bearings pressed in the linkage and swingarm tomorrow.

starting to come together, shes looking good
-
Happens to the best of us, my friend. lol. A few days ago, I installed my entire clutch setup and then remembered I hadn't put the kicker assembly in yet. Dang it! Back apart it went. Installed the clutch again, then remember I missed a washer. Crap! Back apart it went. 3rd time was a charm. Some days you're on point, other days you are searching for your mind. lol. It's gonna be sweet when you get done though!
-
Lol that's funny Ryan. I completely agree, some days I'm flying through stuff and others I feel like I don't have a brain. Thanks Jesse!
-
This is shaping up to be an awesome build Zach. Looking good
-
Very nice Zach.
-
Looks like this one will top your other one for sure....very nice!!
-
Thanks guys! More updates tomorrow.
-
Yeah my vote is chrome Laeger stickers. It will really pop on the black frame.
-
I think I will Steve. Probably on the frame rail the front engine mounts bolt too. Got the lower frame pad on, steering stem all done and clamp. Didn't get over to the machine shop to finish the bearings tonight. Does anyone know what the boss's and one tab are for in the last 3 pics? I'm lost.

-
Zach you have a XC frame, the first of the last three is for the Oem snorkel as well as the 2nd. The third is for pipe..if running a stock or similair pipe.
-
Ahh ok that makes sense, good call Steve. Are there any other differences from the MX version?
-
Just the extra bungs and tabs is all.
-
Got bored today so I put some stickers on. Bearings will all be done in the next couple days and I have to get a piston ordered for Neil. Also get the wide frame measurement for my CCP mount.

Yeah that washer with the boss on it is for mounting the TM designs chain slider to the swingarm. You have to drill a hole in the plastic chain slider and it will screw into the winger itself, its just a little tricky lining up where you drill the hole! Sick build by the way!!!!
Thanks Higgy
-
Thanks for clarifying Higgy. When I ordered the slide n guide kit they told me to put the slider on and just rap it with a mallet to make an indent of the boss on the back of the slider and then drill the hole. The one's I was more concerned about were the ones in the last few pictures a couple posts up. I was going through all of my parts like, uhhhhh I don't have anything that goes there lol. Got all of my bearings in. Going to try to get the rear end done tomorrow but it's cold as hell outside so I'll see how long I can survive. Does anyone know the torque specs for the bolts in the cr500 linkage?
-
The chrome stickers look awesome on the black frame.
-
Going pretty smooth so far except I'm an idiot and forgot the steering stem collar.
Alot of people don't know how hard it is when the bike is all apart to get all the parts the same color together in one spot. Your lucky if you only left out one piece. Hopefully there was enough powder left over to get that part done. (And all the rest you might have missed) Looks really good. You know were all wishing we could do an aftermarket build.
-
Thanks for the kind words Tony. I'm pretty hard on myself so when I screw up I get frustrated. Good news is that we had the collar in stock at work so I got it and put it in no problem.
I'm really happy I put those stickers on Steve. I think I'm going to put my other two on the swingarm if there is enough room between the carrier hole and the linkage hole.
Just an FYI for people doing a rebuild or resto. RMATV has a ton of the OEM parts in stock for the R. I try to use as much of the OEM bearings and hardware as I can and so far they have all been in stock. As some of you know I'm a manager at the KY location and I'm not trying to sway anyone to buy from us. I just thought it would be helpful in the future.
-
Chain slider, swingarm and axle in. Picking up some misc hardware tomorrow and starting to tighten stuff up. Bad news on my tie rods that came with the aarms. They must have been for a narrow chassis because they are way too short so I'll have to get some made. Another set back but it's starting to look like a R a little more each day.

Subrame, flip top piece and chain roller on.

-
Not much more progress. Bumper and grab bar on. Tie rods and a couple hardware pieces should be here Friday to finish the linkage and start the front end assembly again. Rear end just needs tightened up but it's together. Set one of the nerfs on to see how it will look.

Just noticed no rear motor mount by the swingarm. Is that normal for these frames?
Edit: I looked a little harder and found it, just the lower one
-
Ya it's there PNW. I've noticed a lot of the Laeger frames do not have the crossbar mount in between the vertical frame tubes that goes through the back of the cases. I'm not sure why though.
-
Graphics on.

Looking good Zak
-
Thanks Jamie. Not too much progress lately. Still waiting on some things to come in before I can go further so I've been polishing and painting. Painted the spindles and front m/c. Polished my hubs and got the front end together minus shocks and lines. Still need to polish my nerfs, throttle cover and front m/c cap. Cylinder should be back from Neil soon so after that motor goes in.

Got the motor in today and a few misc things. Some of you guys might recognize the old school swingarm decal.

I'm not saying that I did, or did not have a sticker that resembled that on the back of the Chevelle I drove to high school!!! LOL
:band:
-
Lookin' good Zak! Looks like not too much left to do.....
-
Lol nice 4Whlr. I've had a few of those stickers for a long time and decided to finally use one. Growing up in Cleveland I listened to WMMS every day. Yes sir Jeremy. Shocks should be back next week and then the seat. After that the only thing left are the brake lines.
-
Looking sexy, Zak. You sure you're still gonna race that thing? LOL
-
shes really coming together, looking great!
-
Thanks Ryan and Jesse! O I'm going to ride the piss out of this thing Ryan. Break in is going to be torture before I get to really open it up.

Man that thing looks nice. Does Baldwin still make those graphic kits?
-
Looking good man
-
Thanks T-bone and Doug! I'm not sure if he still makes them but I know he has a couple left.
-
Shocks came back so I put those on, new Baldwin hub caps, shrouds and torqued everything down. Gotta get to the machine shop this week to make a skidplate, CCP mount for the wide frame, drill holes for nerf bolts and drill and re-tap one of the rear brake reservoir holes.
