Title: The Hulk Build
Post by: mandom250r on January 20, 2015, 07:30:11 PM
Ok guys might as well start this thing off so you can see how it all starts. I have to ship, buy and rebuild stuff and will be making up my mind as i go really. This will end up being a duner but here are some pics of my original plan for a drag bike.

These mounts dont look right and dont think they would handle a puma so im sending this chassis to Stellar to get worked on. (http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z157/armandomoreno/DSC01512.jpg)

Thanks guys, the more i look at these pics the more i want to keep it this way. Too bad its raining outside or else i would bolt everything i have just to see what it would look like. Stellar is way busy so he said theres no rush in shipping it since it would just sit at his shop and start working on it till march.

So after months of having a puma locked up in my closet ive been hearing braping noises coming from it at night. Yes guys im sure theyre coming from the closet and not from under the bed sheets lol. Today i decided to build it hand tight just to see what it would look like. Ive had a couple members say that it would be pretty cool to see a hulk build and thanks to a member on here Emullen for offering his green fenders this will now be The Hulk build. This is a temporary chassis untill i find a LSR xulw chassis.

This is a Packard 439 puma with over ride tranny and a 48mm lectron. The slingshot that i had saved up for this puma is now being used for my sphynx so i have not decided on clutch set up for this. Ignition will be a cr250 of course but other than that the engine set up is complete.

The chassis needs mounts reinforced and im thinking of green powder to match the fenders. The swingarm is a Stellar +10 arched and will be paired with a JJ&A hillshooter axle (i have a JJ&A play axle on the above pics). The chrome a-arms in the first pics are super light drag arms with aluminum bushings and titanium bolts. I dont know who made them. The purple ones are DMR arms with heims.
Up front i have JJ&A spindle mounts with smoothies and in the rear those are Skat Trak 12 paddle rippers with a 81 roll out. I was just told i need more paddle and less roll out so i will be buying a different pair soon.
The fenders will be drag cut and polished and will have hulk graphics. Steering stem and wheelie bar will be done by Stellar.
Have not decided on what color/type of seat im going with and im thinking im going with a chrome Fullbore tank cover.

Ive been trying to get a hold of Stellar for about a week and no luck. Called the shop everyday and left two messages on the answering machine but no call back. Im not liking that. Ive also tried to contact JDI to get a price on one of those sweet drag chassis and no luck either.

Finally some updates....Had no luck with stellar so i just stopped calling. I got a price from packard for one of his style LSR hillshooters and then i got a chance to get my hands on one of these sweet JDI hillshooter chassis so i jumped on it.
It looks like a basketball players coffin lol

Hey Mandom u can also try a late 80's and on ford small block water pump to thermostat hose they are exactly the same thing with out the adapter u have only shorter. Now that I'm thinking about it there are many Ford vehicles(Aerostar, ranger, econoline) that use that 3/4 -90 degree to 5/8 straight hose if u wanted to ditch adapter. FYI. I would go to parts hose and just look around and always find one, common hose. u seem to have this build well under control.

Post by: Wrench U on February 11, 2016, 05:34:28 PM
Jegs and summit sell universal mandrel "U" bends in various materials and diameters, that are light weight and strong if u want something more durable for cheap. just have to cut to desired length/angle. U can also swing by a exhaust shop and look in there scrap pile they take a lot of nice stainless exhaust off new vehicles. FYI most vehicle OEM exhaust is high quality stainless due to emission standards/ high temp. Look for truck tuff that will have the larger diameter tubing. Most exhaust shops will be able to flare the tubing, for a good fit on the filter. I've always tried to use the resources around me or available to me, so i was creative back in the day. Cause extra coin wasn't. LOL!

Fatten your needle up a couple turns then start backing (leaning) it out a half turn at a time till you get closer to it's happy spot then you can go in 1/4 turn increments to fine tune it..

kept running away even after pulling the kill switch and spark wire.

do you have the idle screw turned most all the way in ? if so that's likely the reason. I had same problem. you don't want the idle screw all the way in. you can try someone elses needle stick out recommendations but its going to boil down to finding what works regardless what everyone else has theirs set at. if it wont idle at all through the full needle adjustment range then I would guess your needing a different needle, providing you have no underlying mechanical problems. lectrons aren't as easy as everyone thinks they are. especially when you start from square one and aren't sure what needle to use or how far to have it stick out. be prepared to turn the needle up and down thousand times before you get it figured out haha. went through same shit here

Called packard today and told him my needle was 53.2; said it was too long, grab some pliers and keep turning with the needle extended. He said its suppose to be 51mm but to try 52mm first. Ok

Very cool Mando! It's awesome you have your future jockey at the track right by your side. I love when my boys are with me doing the stuff I do.

I love seeing these crazy bad ass machines you guys build, like this Hulk R!!!  Not only fast but gorgeous looking too!  Here in the Northeast I would ruin a beautiful bike like that in my woods!  That or it would be a garage queen and what fun is that!  Amazing build you've got!!!
