Silverlake250r and I are going to glamis February 3-15. We have room for 1. I have a nice truck and toy hauler and this will be my 5th trip so no disappointments. We could pick you up if you're some what in route. Ya it's short notice but we committed to this trip yesterday. I'm just throwing it out there if someone can make it happen.

I would like to know who all these guys from Michigan are? I use to ride ATC so maybe they would accept me:)

I'm heading down south in May not west
-
Can you guys swing by RI to pick me up??
-
Damn, I wont be able to make it. You guys have fun. How long of a drive is it?
-
36 hrs of pure bliss :) when people here how long of a drive it is and shake their head I say, now you can understand how awesome it is there to make it worth the long drive.
-
Man I wish I could. Shoot for another trip 3yrs from now. I'll have a couple bikes and spare engines by then.
-
^^^ you'll never be ready. Just go Colin just go .... Haha 3 years is along time
-
Haha honestly, I'd be going if I wasn't doing a 20k remodel this spring. But the remodel is a priority unfortunately.
-
You'll have a kid in 3 years and that will be way more of a priority than remodeling!
-
True^^^^ lol
-
Well piss....
-
When you stop doing things for fun you might as well be dead.
-

Cool R dune fun vid. Looks like a blast until the trouble. Glad you guys had a good trip.
-
Survived most of the trip with the good bikes running. Time to go bigger!
-
All I can say is WOW!!! My first impression is untamed territory.....What a difference from the dunes here. I am not used to NOT seeing thousands of people like at silver lake. That was an awesome video and i like the videos alot better when there is no music playing just like this one!!! Looking forward to seeing you again at silver lake.....

Thanks man! Yes, its a lot of virgin sand but not a lot of WOT because of all the unknown dropoffs and unpredictable soft sand. I wanted to add, the reason I locked up was a clogged gas tank vent....its dustier sand and after days of riding I think it filled up and I ran my bowl out of fuel. I had 75-100 hard sand dune hours on that top end though, time for a new one anyway.

Looks like a wild time man
So what's the next setup going to be?

We have had replaced dozens of pistons in engines because of the little billet piston shaped check valves that guys put on the end of their fuel tank vent lines. The spring in the check valve is too strong and does not allow the fuel tank to vent properly.
Carburetor tuning is much more critical when running the big dunes than bikes tuned for smaller dunes and woods bikes where the periods of wide open throttle are less.
-
I actually run more wide open throttle at Silver Lake then I do glamis. Other than the sand highways most of the time we are grunting around at glamis. Yes the big bowls and walls we run wot but not nearly as long as what I do at SL. Marcs bike lasted 4 big days at glamis. I truly believe it was a gas tank vent problem.
-
its funny you guys mention those little buggers, the last time i rode this year i picked one up from a vendor at the ride area, as soon as i did my bike was catching a lean condition but i didnt put 2 and 2 together. definately pulling it off right away.

Arlan says stay away from them. I'm a idiot and still run one, I can't stand the hose and trying to find a place for it. Also when removing the gas cap having to deal with it. Maybe I'll learn my lesson some day.
