The 87 250r I bought has a twist throttle and I'm not a fan of them on quads. Having a hard time scoring a stock thumb throttle, is there an after market one I can pick up? Also new to two stroke quads.

400ex works as well. I just put one on because my OEM 250r one was worn out.
-
Awesome news. Thank you!

I have a 450r one on mine, just have to clearance the housing a bit.

Thank you!
so far the only other hiccup on my list.

will a 400ex thumb throttle work on an 86 250r Trx? Thanks, Jesse
-
Yes and a 450r will but require modifications

I love my Boyesen thumb throttle. Huge grip area

i have a 400 one on mine. you have to grind out the throttle stop tab inside the housing. its no biggie and only takes a couple min with a die grinder

i have a terrycable on my bike and love it. more pricey because it is a fully machined billet piece, but the longer throw of the thumb lever makes throttle control effortless
-
cool thanks for the help.

TRX90 on mine. Had to shave a bit of the casing inside to achieve WOT but loving it! Had the stock 250R on when I got it and then a 450R. I tried this to lighten the pressure up so my thumb doesn't get sore during my XC races. Did the trick!
