I put a tmx carb on my bike and decided to post what I thought.
First thing I read about was about how terrible they are to jet. So I decided to do some research on jetting them. Found a jetting guide for the CR250 on the Pro Circuit website. I figured it would be a good baseline.
I found a decent looking one on ebay for $85 with jets and needles. Worst case I'm out $85.
I get it and set it up like Pro circuit had.
Pull my bike out saturday for the first startup after the build.
1 kick, 2, 3,4 and 5. Nothing. Pulled the choke and fired right up!
Idled great. Smooth. Now its time to run it a little. Warm the engine up and and take it down the road.
Holy Crap this thing pulls hard right off the bottom!
I have been running a 39mm pwk and it runs great but didn't pull off the bottom until the powerband hit. I also ran 38 and it was ok.
Still have to break it in and run it more but first thoughts is I really like it. More to come after more riding

Alright an update. I put on my 16" american racers and went down to my track for little ride. I didn't change my gearing so I didn't know what to expect. I have 14/33 gears that I started with for my kart tires.
I pulled those gears easy. Power is smooth from the bottom all the way up.
So far I love this carb.

What year cr250 carb? What year did you rejet it to on pro circuits site?

I don't know what year carb i got. It is an 01 or 02. The main thing is the nozzle. Use an S8 nozzle. You can get one from JetsRus has the nozzles. There is also an S7 nozzle available if you need to go leaner. The nozzle is the needle jet that is NOT replaceable on Keihin carbs.
I am running a 32.5 pilot, stock needle at 4th clip from top, and a 390 main. I really haven't put much time on my motor so there maybe some adjustments to the jetting.
I posted this because there is not any good info that I found on these carbs for a 250r motor. My suggestion would be if you were to get one is put in a new nozzle and needle that you can get from Honda for a CR250, simply because that would give new parts. I will have to look at which one I am using because the numbers change per year, I am pretty sure it is an 02.

you may have just helped me and didn't even know it! I recently bought another 87 and the guy says it has 01 ignition and carb. so I just assumed it did, but I think I have a 00 setup. looks like quad vent keihin pwk air stryker came on 99&00. the o1 came with mikuni tmx.
