Post by: canuckhd on March 15, 2015, 01:20:23 PM
Hello guys just picked up a mint R. Got it running but will not idle. Carbs clean, electrical checks out, reeds are good too. What else to check? Nice to be an owner again. Been along time since 1987. Lol. Great site guys.

plugged slow jet ( pilot) is the first thing I would look at and would do a good carb cleaning as well ,pat attention to the small holes at the top of the pilot jet as well the main hole that supplies the fuel.

Are you able to spin the choke knob to adjust idle?

First things thanks for the quick replies. Yes I can spin the idle and doesn't change idle. Also have adjusted air screw tight to almost falling out.

Then like Fred said the pilot or slow jet should be taken out and cleaned. If you don't want to take the carb off you can loosen it and turn it to remove the float bowl. You will then be able to get to the pilot jet.
