Title: Tie Rod Ends or Heim Joints?
Post by: 87cclR on March 22, 2015, 09:28:23 PM
Do you run one or the other? If so, what's the reasoning? I think I'll end up running Heim Joints (spherical bearings) on my tie rods, as they offer a bit more articulation and are fairly forgiving of misalignment. I'll not be running the R in wet or muddy conditions, so that's not really an issue. Also, the Heim joints are free for me, so there's always that.

If they are free then go for it. Heims wear out faster then ball joints. They are more exposed to the element. But like I said if they are free and free the next time around go for it.

Go ball joints.  I think heims look cleaner but they are exposed, can wear-out faster, and can also squeak a bit.

Depends upon the quality of heims as to the wear factor....IMO heims are lighter and easier to work with....They also reduce friction in the steering...
