Title: Gas/oil getting past plug
Post by: Powerstroken on April 02, 2015, 05:56:43 PM
So I put my first tank of fuel in today. I had what was in there since I bought it a month ago. I just put in a 50/50 mix of c12 & 93. I pulled it out of the garage and was warming it up (I have limited time to do before the cops will show up do to old neighbors). Got it warm and then putted across my yard maybe 300' to an access road to give it a romp. Soon as I got on it I had a terrible bottomed bog it was cutting up and sputtering real bad. When it got to mid it cleaned up but still didn't have the power it has had the past few times I rode it. Took it back to the garage figured maybe I fouled the plug. Went to take the plug out and there was gas and oil seeping past the plug? This is my first r but I have never seen that on any engine. The plug was a little wet but not soaked. It seemed like there was more around the threads. The plug seems like it screws in fine but maybe the head is stripped? I never had any type of bogging issue untill today with it and the only thing I did was put gas in it. Any ideas?

Are you tightening the plug enough to compress the sealing washer a little? I usually have some oil residue around the washer & the plug seat area of the head  but not much.

Try a new plug. Also try and get a pic of your threads on the head so we can see what's up with that.
