Title: F.A.S.T. Racing?

Has anybody used them for porting? They are located in Holton,KS. It's not too far from me so I was thinking about taking my stock cylinder to them to port when I rebuild it.

i have seen fast banshees they have built. with that said i would use a builder who specializes in 250rs specifically. pack it up tight and ship it out.

I am thinking the guy on the old site with the airplane took his Puma there. They really messed up his cylinder and he ended up selling it.

why are you so dead set on using someone just because they are near you? that is what telephones and shipping services are for. there are builders completely dedicated to building our specific bikes, that have done the R&D to know the little nuances these specific cylinders need. shops like these that say they will port anything have not done this.

$150 for a port job is a red flag. you will get what you pay for.

I'm not dead set on using someone close. I was simply asking if anybody had used them. I have seen some of the banshee they've built at Little Sahara and they were fast. I'm sure they would do a decent job and they don't charge much more than that to do the banshees.

Knowing exactly what to do to the ports for a particular engine package is ONE OF THE COMPONENTS of an engine package that is needed to make an engine run really well.

 I have seen port jobs that looks like they were done with a chain saw  or a motorized post hole digger that ran very well because the guy that did the porting had done the necessary testing and knew what to do to the ports but was in a big hurry.  

I have also seen more port jobs than I can count, that were works of art that would not make power or the power was not usable.   A lot of time was spent on these beautiful port jobs using the right tools, by highly skilled hands but did not know what porting dimensions to use on that particular model and application.

anybody can set generic port timings , which is what alot of shops do because they dont know much about any one specific engine so they set them all up the same. when shops advertise they can build any engine this is a red flag. $150, shit that wouldnt even get me into the garage. might be another red flag there

Also just because a shop is not on here posting or people are not talking about doesn't mean they do bad work. Before you send it some where do your research JUST LIKE YOU ARE. If you can get good feedback from some people that have used them for 250Rs and your type of setup, great. If not then it is time to find someone else. And price is not equal across the board. I just made $$$ yesterday that some people make in a month, yet I live in one of the most expensive parts of the country. If a shop was around here they would have to charge $$$$ compared to a shop in a much cheaper area. Heck my buddy charges $145hr shop rate for automotive work.

alot of riders dont know much about the mechanics of the engine. send em a turd cylinder and they wouldnt know much difference. so what good is their feed back. coc is a good example. everyone raved about him, people fell for the great feedback, now look what happened. plenty of disgrunted customers. suprised hes still in business

i dont want to speak for jerry or arlen but i dont think $150 will get you much from a reputable tuner. their time and 20 or 30yrs experience is worth more than that
