Unfortunately though, not a trx250r, but a 400ex.
Long story short, I needed a good, reliable, 400-up sport quad for my wife to ride and I scored a really solid '01 400ex. I REALLY like how it handles, and the power is plentiful, yet predictable. Perfect for my wife. :) She just started learning to ride my bolt-on modded ATC 250r recently. She does seem to like it and is doing just fine. But I can plainly see she is more at ease and comfortable on a thumper sport quad.
Maybe the 2nd TRX we bring home will have a 2-stroke mill! :D

That's awesome! 400's are great, gotta love the electric start. I had the gf on a 250x and gave her the xc built 450 which is now wayyyy to much for her I think. Wish I would have never sold my 400!! I think a 400 would be perfect for her.

nice man. such a solid platform

It's always good to get/keep the wife involved. Mine quit snowmobiling about 6 years ago and now it's difficult to participate without her complaining.
P.S. don't tell her I just bought a 05 mxz 800.

congrats on the purchase! and i know how you feel about her on a quad, my gf loves the kfx700 when we ride. Thinks its funny to try and race my 2 strokes lol
good looking bike though, glad you got the sleds moved

Thanks guys.
Yes Jason, I always liked the 1st gen 400ex body style. I don't know why, but for me, when they gave it the 1st gen 450r body it kind of ruined it for me....
This EX is solid... It was recently overhauled by a reputable shop in my area. Runs great and isn't beat at all... Real happy with it!

I agree about the first gen body style being the best although I did like the 07 body style that mine had and the reverse helped me a few times. The current styling is uglier then sin in my opinion. I miss mine but do like my 250r more cause it fits my riding style better, the EX was too tame.

Don't get me wrong, I do like that 1st gen 450r body...on a 450r! ;)
It's just when I think of a 400ex, I think of those twin round headlights and the dimpled black panels along the tank... They just don't look right to me in 450r clothes...

Yeah, I like the ol school look better myself. Nice score!!

A perfect wife quad IMO.

I hope your wife learns to love riding as much as mine did.my wife had more to do with my four boys learning how to ride than I did
-
Oh she is into it for sure.
Like I said, she isn't scared of either of my ATC R's (although she's not on the happy lever as hard as I usually am), she's just more comfortable on a sport quad.
I plan to get another 400ex in the relatively near future. We have 2 kids and my little girl isn't old/big enough to ride her own machine where we do most of our riding. I don't mind her riding in my lap, and it's MUCH easier on a 400 sport quad than either of my ATC's....
