I've lurked on here for awhile, so here's my first post, sorry that it is long. After moving to Reno and not having a quad now for 8yrs(lived in North Bend, OR prior for 2.5yrs and rode the dunes almost every weekend) I felt it was time to buy some quads for me and the wife, bought an 04 yfz 450 with houser arms, elka stg4 shocks all around and the exhaust and air filter done, motor stock. Anyways I was in the market for another quad and found a 250r!
So I just bought a stock 86 a few weeks ago, I'm the 3rd owner. Brand new to the bike, although I have always liked them since I saw them in action when I was living in North Bend, OR and riding my first quad (Predator) while I was in college. Anyways, bike ran fine when I bought it, although low on gas, needed a new petcock I found out, then had my mechanic buddy that is trained on Honda look at the carb, tore it apart and rebuilt it only to have it still not hold gas. So, I got on ESR and ordered the Stage 1 package- 38 a/s, TRX5 centermount and airbox eliminator about a week ago. I had emailed him this morning wondering when it would be shipped, then Eddie called me today to ask a few questions, said he would jet it close to my elevation (4500ft) and is shipping it out today and should be here Friday! He will be definitely getting my business again. Can't wait to Braaap this weekend!
Well I can't wait to start picking everyone's brains, although there is already quite a bit of info on here. I'll try to post a pic when I log into tapatalk.

Welcome to org and the 250r family. Lots of R help available here to help you along the way.

Welcome Curtis.

Those are both good looking bikes, When I'm back home If I remember right I'm jetting in the 162ish range with a 38 airstryker, trx11 and some form of chicken scratch port. Just to give you an idea so if he puts you anywhere near that I would guess you would be well on the safe side considering I foul the occasional plug.

I appreciate it man! Hopefully he'll have it close so I don't have to screw with it too much.

Welcome to the site, blu/white 86's are my favorite. Your's looks nice. We have friends in sparks that are in the Rim Benders MC & they desert race all over the sparks/reno area. There's a lot of really good riding over there, be sure to check out moon rocks if you haven't already, cool trails & you can go watch people beat the crap out of their rock crawlers.

:wavehello: welcome

I haven't been out to moonrocks even though I've lived here for 8yrs haha. I live out in N Reno(Coldsprings) and have BLM trails about 100yrds away, but we'll make our way out there and hit up Sand Mountain.

Our friends don't live too far from you than. There in west Sparks & his place is the same, they can ride for 3 blocks through the neighborhood & there's blm land for miles & miles. It would be awesome having that for a back yard. We usually go there every Memorial Day weekend but can't make it this year unfortunately.

Welcome it's beautiful area over there, I have a brother in Vegas I go over and see every Christmas hoping to bring the bike this year for some riding.

Welcome Curtis maybe we'll run to each other at Sand mountain sometime I'm in elko NV

Ya that would be cool! I still need to get these things registered. The YFZ was previously registered by the last owner so I don't know if I need the VIN check, but need to have it done on the TRX.

You'll need atleast a bill of sale for both and Vin check for both
-
I have titles on both and heard I would need to take both down to an OHV dealer to get the VIN check.

Welcome to the site. I keep planing on making it up to Sand Mountain. i'm about 1hr closer to Pismo and the beech just always wins out. My Dad lives in Litchfield, fun to visit up there and like said, tons of riding to do in the area. I want to make it out to some of the hot springs some time.
