Title: Looking to get shocks
Post by: Powerstroken on April 28, 2015, 12:31:39 PM
[h=2][/h]   Looking to get shocks that won't cost me an arm and a leg. Not sure if it's possible to get good ones with out spending a lot. I do trails with occasional mx I weigh around 225. Are the Ella stage 3 any good that can be had for 1000 for all 3? Or should I look for something used?

i just bought the stage 3 when they were on sale for $799 im pretty happy with them so far i ordered direct from elka and they have been great to deal with when i first got them they were wayy too stiff so i called them and they sent me the springs for the next weight range down and now they are great compared to most of the rebuild stock style shocks ive had over the years. my recomendation would be to just subtract about 20-30lbs from your weight when you order. there spring calculator is abit off. i ride pretty much the same style as you and couldnt be happier for the price.

Yeah I thought they were a little cheaper a few months ago. I should have got them then but didn't have the money.

You may contact Andy at Maultech, he probably can steer you in the right direction.

The only thing they changed was aluminum bodies from the old steel ones.  We offer the GT Suspension line you can check out on our website that are very reasonable.

I bought a pair of HLS fronts on eBay for $185 shipped, they were like new and set-up for my weight/style. Sometimes it pays to look around...

I have the HLS fronts on mine and they work great. Of course I bought them back when GThunder was still around and selling them.....Andy has since taken over the line and I believe he made some further improvements to them

I went through with the elka stage 3. So I know they are brand new and set exactly for me. I'm sure they are WAY better then the stock ones I have now. I'm not looking to go pro on the track just something good enough to have some fun
