Picked this up this weekend, going to make this my duner maybe trail rider, rode a 250r for 20 years but only in the sand
Took the pictures with my phone so they are not the best but it pretty much is all stock, has the factory pipe, OEM plastic that have no cracks but have lots of scratches but Mop and Glo made them look allot better.
He bought the stainless bolt kit which I really dont like, so I will be looking for the factory bolts to back in it to make it 100% stock

yes very nice piece for sure. Plastic looks dang good to me.

Awesome! Love a stocker, especially an '88. Real NICE!
If you ever want to get a 100% seat cover, I'd recommend the Mosh's work. They are a small family owned business. Great to deal with. "Cosmic Quads"

They did my '89 cover and have done premo '88 covers as well. Very good quality!

thanks guys! 20 years ago my first ATV was a used 88 and have always liked the all red bikes. Its not a museum piece by no means but its mostly all stock.
I think I did alright on it for 2800.00 and not needing anything
The frame has been power coated and new stickers are on the plastics, I need a toolbox for it and a air box lid for now.
Maybe in a year or two I will strip the decals off to sand and buff the plastics, no cracks in them but they really have allot of scuffs and scrapes I just used Mop&Glo and some quick detailer wax on it for now, Looks great in a picture or 10 feet away.
Mostly bought to dune ride with the wife when she feels like taking a spin around the park, we setup camp at the drag strip and haul the bikes in on a platform mounted to the top of the bed rails of my truck so I can have both my drag bike and dune bike with me.

Looks real good Dave, I am a great fan of the red 88 also!!!
-
Looks good Dave can't wait to see it in person
-
I know where there is a Saber that will fit nicely into that "Duner" chassis... LOL!
Nice bike Dave, I've got the matching 89 if you want a "set".... LOL!
-
Very nice. That may be the only quad that want and would leave stock. Or mostly stock anyway.

thanks Andy that seat looks awesome! I will keep that in mind because I do want to make it look all stock but probably not as nice as your restorations :)

Believe me I thought about building a duner with the saber but trying to keep it simple my drag stuff can be a pain with all the maintence and tuning.
Your 89 is so nice! it really makes my bike look lame :(

when you making it back to silverlake, wish you were coming this weekend so we could gang up on the Banshee's
-
very nice R~!!!!!
-
Nice!!!!!
-
nice bike dave
-
That's very clean looking, nice score. This might be a stupid offer since you want to have an all stock bike but if the 86 airbox lids are the same as the 88 I got one that has a 4"x5" hole cut into it that you can have if you want it.
-
Thanks broken1,
I think I still have a lid that I added a screen to the top, just have not dug around to find it but I think I want to put a cover with no hole in it so it will be a little more weather proof.
Not going for performance with this bike just want a low maintenance bike I can jump on and go.

Dave I'm hoping for Labor Day busy at work
-
Looks real good, very clean!! Nice score!!
-
wow that thing is beautiful. i want the rear grab bar, lol and some other things...
-
that thing is clean!!!! Nice score!
-
Very nice score for the money. Cousin of mine bought a 88 off ebay for 3500 plus 500 to ship from Cali and it is not as nice as yours.
-
thanks, I took it to the dunes last weekend with my old retro **** Cepek 21 tall 16 paddle tires (real short paddles)
The bike ran great, I leaned the needle one clip position but real happy so far with the way it runs for a little duner!
-
thats one clean 88 man,,to pretty to ride!! my buddy has a nice 88 for sale that has a port job with a few mods to it! he's looking for 2600 i think

Dave, any chance you plan on hitting Silver lake this weekend 9-10-11? I plan on heading up there. Colin said he is more than likely going to make it. Would love to put a face with some names.
-
sorry we are coming the next weekend 16-18 then will be back for labor day weekend 30-1 but I am sure we will have a trip or 2 in sept/oct as long as its nice weather wise so we have to try and hook up before the end of the year

Be sure to let me know when your going in September/October. We are heading to Baldwin for trail riding September 20 weekend. MAy hit the dunes after on Saturday or Sunday.

That thing is cherry! I always liked the looks of the 88 the best! Sweet find!
-
Love the 88's, sounds like you got a great deal on it being all original!
-
well its not cherry, but it is a clean bike, its allot fun to buzz around on and it gets allot of compliments. I think the stock exhaust and muffler amazes everyone the most since everyone threw them away along time ago.
After my brother inlaw took it for a ride, I think he's going back to the stock 250r pipe for more lowend power since he just cruises the dunes with it now in his later years.
We had a over 40 age driver sand drags with stock bikes this last weekend and my 88 was mopping up :)
-
These are the stock shocks Dave I took off Jon's new ride. The bodies are painted silver ans the rear is polished aluminum.
