Title: outdoor cooking
Post by: croat1 on June 14, 2015, 06:15:04 PM
(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/24_5541_2017-04-18_7634.jpg)anyone have any interesting setups for summertime outdoor cooking?  here is my portable rotisserie.  adjustable height and variable speed controller.  I might build a fire box for underneath (lump charcoal)?  we like to do suckling pigs.

Thats a nice rotisserie Joe, did you make it? I don't have anything fancy but an old friends dad made a huge trailer mounted spit for doing whole hogs. He would use it when his boy had work parties but it was almost torture to have to smell it all day while we were working.

No Laegers sticker on the rotisserie Joe? Lol

I didn't know you owned anything non-Laegers :jumping0041:

And here I thought this was a forum on quads ::) It's bad enough that no one has anything quad related, but I thought this was in the "chat" BS column
Guess I was wrong, That/s why I don't go in for the chat side :(
desertR

Yes it is a quad forum.  The newest, best, most organized and member owned R forum....yes with a chatbox and lounge section.  This thread topic fits right in with the lounge topic guide lines

Famous ribs coming up this weekend!

I’ve volunteered every Saturday for the last... too many!! I’ll be taking off this weekend and relaxing with my girl. The Alabama weather has been truly amazing here lately.

I purchased one of these today.  Camp Chef 2 burner.  I’ll use it around the house but I really purchased it for the meet up in Oklahoma later this year.  Hopefully it’s a useful “tool” in all my future road trips.

Old reliable gas grill.  Broilmaster gas grill.  Owned since August 2004.

Off the Traeger and then on the gas grill for some char.  Baby back ribs fall off the bone since all my friends and family like them that way.

Scored me a little Traeger from my dad. It's old but still works. I found it's best for smoking. Maybe if I updated the controller but I have other grills for actual grilling

Hope everyone had a great summer with family and friends.  I used the Traeger pretty often.  Not as good as a real smoker but it’s good for what it is.  I did learn that Traeger pellets suck!  I now use Bear Mountain brand.

I don’t have the time or patience for a stick style smoker.  The only thing I might get next year is a Weber kettle.

I ended up buying a Weber kettle.  It was on clearance at Lowe’s for $143

I bought 2 of them.  I haven’t cooked on charcoal in over 30 years.

Webber kettles are the best. I can remember my dad grilling always having one since I was little

Outdoor cooking season is almost hear even though  I’ve been cooking outside very frequently (even in the snow).  The Weber kettle is my favorite cooking “tool”.  Wings and party ribs are a hit every time I make them.

I really enjoy the Webber kettle myself. One of my favorite things to cook in it is a prime rib. Just coat it with sea salt and set it on. I actually put fire bricks all across the grill then put the prime rib in a cast iron skillet. The bottom of the prime rib gets the most delicious bark.
