A little more progress.

Going to be awesome when it's finished. How do you like those OMF shrouds?
-
Sick!!
-
Looks awesome! Man I need another hybrid one of these days
-
I took The OMF shrouds off and put some PRM shrouds on it. The front brake lines rubbed really bad on the OMF shrouds.

I took the OMF shrouds off, they rubbed the brake lines really bad. I put a set of PRM shrouds on it. They have a bigger space to run the brake lines through.

Found my engine. 06 CRF450R.

Nice to find a low hours bike like that. Sweet build
-
Great build. Yes flp was around and yes we are still around and still building :)

Well that's good to know. Where can we find more info and keep up with your latest projects?
-
You can call or text 330 503 3453 or e mail mnicholson2@zoominternet. Or we do have some shop hours open to the public
-
Sorry mnicholson2@zoominternet.net
-
Lovin the flp frame. And blue color is killer. Red race cut oems ar e again very sharp. I'd be proud of owning that machine.
-
Change of plans on the engine. Found a 03 CRF450r engine with big bore 500 cylinder, Web cam, +2 stainless valves, ported and polished, polished transmission gears.
-
Sounds like that will be a very strong motor

Still need to install the Hinson clutch cover.
-
Yes!!! Did you get the motor from the 400ex/crf part out on the hybrid page?

Yes I did.
-
Nice! I got the frame, radiator, nerfs and seat mounts. Just came in today
-
Nice. He lives right down the road from me. His quad was extremely fast. I am thinking about buying the axle from him also.
-
Very cool!! There's a few other things I want to get from him too.
-
There isn't much left. I think the swingarm, axle, steering stabilizer, antifade, carrier is all I remember.
-
I keep thinking about that swinger to have "just in case"..lol...But I'm glad you got that motor, that will be perfect for your build!!
-
Can't wait to get it in the chassis. I still need to find a carb.
-
You probly need a big fcr for that motor
-
You probly need a big fcr for that motor
I am going to buy a 07 CRF carb. They are 41mm.

Bad news. Turns out my 03 CRF450R engine does not fit this frame. If anyone one knows what engine fits in this frame I would greatly appreciate the info. Frame and sub frame will be for sale when I figure out what engine fits in it.
-
Is it a width problem with the lower mounts?
-
Is it a width problem with the lower mounts?
Width and length. To narrow on the bottom motor mount and pivot bolt to lower mount to far apart, front mount to narrow also.
-
Hmm that's weird. Sounds like 02-03 have the narrowest mounts. Hopefully it's not set up for a 426
-
That sucks it don't fit. I would have waited on the powder coat for the frame just to fit the motor first in case of modifications. But it a very nice build good luck. If you were to sell the motor pm me a price. Thanks rich

Thank you.
I didn't have the motor at the time I was building the roller. I just went with what the guy I got it from told me. Last time I do that.
-
With the help from Flp, I think we got the chassis figured out. Turns out it uses a 88-89 swingarm, and doesn't use the pivot bolt through the engine. Uses a 03 CRF450R engine. I checked the serial number on my engine and talked to the guy I bought my engine from. Turns out he changed the cases with some 05 cases. There is hope that I can use this chassis after all. Here are some pics of my chassis back in the day.(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/39_7176_2017-04-18_7279.jpg)(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/39_7177_2017-04-18_4446.jpg)(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/39_7178_2017-04-18_9490.jpg)

Cool pics!! I'm glad you got it figured out, looks like I better find an 05'ish motor for the frame you motor came out of

Finally got the engine set in the chassis. I got the sprockets to line up. It is not bolted up tight yet. I couldn't find any bolts long enough for the front mounts and need to weld a piece in for the lower motor mount. I also got the 88-89 swingarm on. I need to do a little trimming on the back of the motor. It is rubbing the swingarm. I at least I am getting closer and know my engine will work in this chassis.

Engine is in and bolted up tight. Time to start bolting on all the rest of the parts. FINALLY!

a little more progress. Got my kill switch wired in and my exhaust on and filled up the cooling system. Now to figure out a intake from the carb to the air box.

A little more progress today.(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/39_7303_2017-04-18_1497.jpg)(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/39_7304_2017-04-18_9849.jpg)(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/39_7305_2017-04-18_8231.jpg)(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/39_7306_2017-04-18_3986.jpg)

Got the -2 Laeger swingarm on, chain on, rear brake line on and bled out, exhaust done, intake done. Now just need to rebuild the carb and fire it up(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/39_7379_2017-04-18_9258.jpg)(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/39_7380_2017-04-18_576.jpg)

That thing is going to fly. Really cool build.
-
Damn what a pain in the ass man. Glad you got it figured out. It looks great!!
-
What did you end up using for the carb to airbox?
-
What did you end up using for the carb to airbox?
On the carb. I used the front part of a 88-89 intake, then a piece of 2 1/4 aluminum tube to a 2 1/4 to 4 inch hose on the air box.

Any updates?

Any updates?
I have fired it up 3 times. Still have not rode it yet. I have a week off with no MX races. I will finish getting the sway bar hooked up and the rear shock reservoir mounted. I need to order a Fourwerx seat cover for a 86 seat for it also, I don't like the feel of the 88 foam on my Quadtech seat that is on it now. Feels like I am sitting up too high. A few other small items need to done to it also. Like number plate backgrounds and numbers put on it. I can't decide if I want to put black number plate backgrounds on or blue backgrounds on. Hoping to ride it this weekend if it ever quits raining. I want to race it on June 4th.

Went with the blue number plate backgrounds. Got the sway bar all hooked up and the Walsh radiator reservoir mounted up. Just waiting for my numbers to come in and order a Fourwerx seat cover and my new tires to get in so I can mount them on the new black A5 wheels.
-
Looks sick! What color numbers did you go with?

Thank you.
White numbers for now. I was thinking I should try and find some chrome numbers. I would also like to find someone who makes graphics make me some blue and chrome 450R graphics for the front fenders that look like the 88 front fender graphics.
