Title: 1986 trx frame with mangled steering stem stop:

I have my old frame sitting here and I would like to repair the steering stem stop the previous owner ruined.  Any chance I could talk someone into measuring the actual width of an uncut stop?  Any tips or advice welcome, I have a mig welder and other tools at my disposal.

It measures 2" across the back of the stop on a '88 frame.
