Title: Ltr 500 intake on lsr no link
Post by: Dirt man on August 30, 2015, 02:36:08 PM
I'm wondering if or how much  the lt 500 air filter is bigger than a stock 250r air filter. I'm trying to fit a air box around the filter.  If I go to a lt 500 air filter it will move the filter forward a half inch which will help. If the lt 500 air filter is a lot bigger than a stock 250r then I'm not gaining anything.

I built an adapter to run a stock filter with the 500 intake....  This moves the filter closer to the brake caliper and rear sprocket which creates more clearance issues.

I don't understand. Won't the bigger filter clamp on in the same place? You still need a sleeve between the boot and the filter.

The lt500 filter is not a clamp on style. I made an adapter that has a 10 degree angle in it.

A 450 filter has the same size inlet as the zilla boots, we ran 450 and 250r filters on the zillas.

I am going to use the lt 500 boot.  The problem is the ID of the 500 boot is bigger than the OD of the stock 250r filter. So a adapter is needed to get the two to connect. My goal is to not use an adapter and this will allow the filter to move closer to the carb which will make more room for a air box.

A stock zilla filter has a screw through the rear of the cage that secured it to the air box flange. A 450r has the 4.5" inlet just like a zilla boot. Hall uses a 6" filter that's 10" or 12" long filter.

Are you sure the 06+ 450 filter is a 4 1/2 inlet?

Thanks Rick I looked at the wrong spec, would it be easier if the filter was almost the size of the frame rails? They you guys could just fill the rails and then a bottom piece maybe?
