Feeling confident because the Walsh boys took my deposit and posted a pic of the start of a 250r frame. This will be a purpose built XC width 250r from Walsh. There will be some use of the TRX450 components like 04/5 spindles, 450 F/R brakes, 450 rear pedal and rezzy, 450 axle carrier and axle, and hopefully 450 standard peg mounts (fingers crossed). The frame should be coming together this month and hopefully in my hands not to long after....
Starting Point:
Frame - WALSH xc Narrow cr500 link
Swinger - WALSH cr500 link trx450 carrier
Stem - Walsh sr +1h and 3/4f
Arms - Walsh +2.5 XC sr series for 04/05 trx450r spindles
Engine - Duncan 275

Thoughts of a crf rear master?
Sounds like a hellova project! Congrats!!

The trx450er rear master. Tried to talk them into a CRF450 linkage but it was gonna require way too many changes to make it work. So sticking with the trusy cr500 linkage.

The Pivot bolt. Laugh about it but try to buy one....lol.

These will rock the R world! Won't be another bike like them!
-
Funny Walsh talked a bunch of shit on 250R's not to long ago saying how out dated the geometry and entire machine was... Not to mention they weren't interested in building any 250R frames they were focusing on their new "Hybrid" quads cause that's the future...Guess your money was green enough for them to look over that stuff. Goodluck but I personally wouldn't purchase anything from a company that has no interest in our community.
-
I'd personally like to see where Nate or Mike talked shit about these bikes. These bikes are what made the Walsh name.
-
very nice! go the extra mile and get titanium a-arms, swingarm and fasteners. cant forget the new elka stage 5.

This is the start to an extremely nice build, whats your overall front end width going to be?
-

Of all the big names they were the only one who was willing to update the old platform. I doubt anything would hold a candle to the Walsh hybrid and I think that would be the context of they were saying the R geo is outdated.

It's gonna end up around 47ish running 4:1 wheels. Doing narrow frame with +2.5 arms running 2005 trx450 spindles.

The thing about comparing the 250r to there other new chassis is most everything walsh builds is truly designed around mx. Yes they make tt and xc arms but the heart is the mx track. The suzuki I will agree is probably hands down one of the best mx machines. They are also probably correct that they have surpassed the geometry of old. The thing about the 250r and even the 450r is imo, they are the best "all around" platform. They can be setup to do anything from racing to play riding, and do it well. Good luck with the build Bob! I cant wait to rip mine in a few weeks when the temp drops.
-
Can't wait to see this thing come together. Should be a badass xc ride!
-
Lol I'm not on Bobs level. This Walsh build will blow mine out of the water. You R looked pretty good from what I seen of it at Silver. Plus, that New setup of yours looks pretty slick.
-
Heading to Walsh in a few weeks to get the treatment!

She will be well loved! Haha leaving well protected lol

This is gonna be one of the sickest xc builds ever. Good luck to all the 450 riders out there. Lol.
-
Ryland hooked me up with a 1 of 1 (for now) bumper and a nice 05 450er easy lift grab bar.

Cant wait to see the finished product gonna be a sexy beast for sure
-
When you're done with this machine you're running it in one of the local XC races with me. No excuses
-
Very nice!
Can't wait to see it all come together!!
-
STILL WAITING! You gotta love Walsh lead times....
-
Perfection takes time!

It will be worth it in the end. Just curious what is the advantage of running a cr500 linkage as apposed to a no-link setup? I'm not super familiar with advantages vs disadvantages between the 2.
-
I can't believe u put the Motor top of the seat, I get nervous of it falling just looking at that pic. Lol! It's going to be a amazing build with all that high quality products your using. U can tell it's not your first build.

The cases are empty. I'm waiting on a new tranny. I sold that top end (stupid move actually). Anyhow, the Walsh will have a 265 in it or maybe a Kellner LRD300.

Any updates on that frame?
