Title: 350x engine into a 250x
Post by: Farmboy1979 on September 13, 2015, 05:24:28 PM
Not 250R related, but I'm looking for a 350x engine to stuff into my 87 250x frame.  I am getting rid of all of my 250R stuff due to illness, but am keeping my 250x because my dad likes to ride it around the farm/woods.  There used to be a kit and/or people who knew how to do this, and I've read Dirt Wheels articles from the early '90's about it.  The 250x engine is a bit underpowered for dragging deer out of the woods or pulling a trailer load of tools around.  If anyone has an engine and knows how to transplant the 350x engine into a 250x frame please let me know.  markmyers007 at yahoo dot com.

Its a fairly  simple swap.  I did it to a 300ex.  Pm me  your  phone  # i can send ya pics of where ya need to cut the engine  case so it will fit. I have a complete  exhaust  an oil cooler  to sell if you're interested. And some other  parts  . I have  a 300ex  roller  im parting  out that i had the motor  in.

It is a pretty easy swap. I also did it to a 300ex. Instead of shaving off the case me and my cousin both just redid the one tab off the mount on the frame. Sorry have no pics. This was done in the 90's. Once you get it in the bike. It kinda lays it self out on what to do.

If their still in business Powroll made a kit for this. I saw a kit on cl awhile back & it just looked like a few spacers was all thats needed.

Thanks for the help- found the info I needed.  Now, anyone have a used engine and exhaust for sale? Doesn't need to be perfect, just run.
