Title: ATC inverted forks
Post by: pantera1975 on July 25, 2013, 10:06:58 PM
All I know of is Jason Hall has a triple tree kit to put I think 97-06 cr forks on a 250R not sure if 125 and 250 forks are the same. I have some 96 CR forks he told me they would work too. There just dont seem to be as many options for lower fork guards. I have less than $100 in the forks, rotor, caliper and a front master (which is not needed). The kit is $550 and then its another $2-300 to have them shortened. Is there any other kits out there? or set ups? What kinda internal work has to be done with the forks as far as valving and springs to get the best ride and performance on a 250R.

I used the vtx triples and full length yz 250 forks for my set up. Had to go with a 6" swingarm and stiffer shock on the rear witch made it taller and longer. Works great as a duner but im not sure how it would be on a track.

On my first s setup I used the KTM85 forks and front brake. I used heavier springs in them and never had any problems with them although some people had problems with blowing fork seals. On my 350x I used 01 cr500 forks and never cared for the look it gave the bike but it did ride nice. On my newest build ill be using the shortened cr125 forks and I'm going to wait and see how everything works before I change the valving or springs.

Fire1, since I started my atc500 build I have kept wondering why people don't use the cartridges from the heavier bikes like the cr500. I mean you would think they are built for more weight from bigger bike etc. Why didnt you like the look of them, too long or what ?

DOORD521 at 3WO has Hotrodhoppy's inverts on his R. He has a +6 on his bike and said they worked like a dream at Little Sahara.
Jason we are going to St Joe and he will bring his R along with his Tecate 500 :)

I used aprilla rs-125 forks on both of these trikes, they are 1.5 inches longer than stock 250r with 2.5 inches more travel.. love them in the dunes very plush ride ,,,, I also used vtx1800 triples on both.

I gotta ask Kasey, did the steering stem press into those tripples? Was there any milling you had to do to the holes to accept those Aprillia cartridges? And did you make your own front axle and mounts for brake caliper and what caliper did you run? Feel free to PM me if you dont want to put all that out there! Just looking at making a set up for both my ATC's, thanks

But if she went riding too, that would be doing something together. Some women just don't get it.
It is the fall ride. Maybe you could make it down here sometime. there are several places to ride around here.

I want to set up a little Sahara trip this fall, like pre thanksgiving. Might make a big whorish production of it and include all six websites lol. And she won't bite for an anniversary ride lol, she enjoys riding but a ride on our 4 year anni won't fly lmao

I machined the triple clamps. KTM 85sx forks, stiffer springs. Machined front rotor adapter. Still untested. Still working on this build.
