Title: Arens XC 363
Post by: swanitalia on October 20, 2015, 08:25:28 AM
After a rough year of riding and racing, the time has finally came that I need a new frame and engine. For next years races I have picked up a Arens Bros frame and have also decided to go big bore.

The engine build has just started and I am hoping to have it done by next week, depending on when my crank comes back in from rebuild.

Here's the setup for my new engine.
ESR 350, setup for a stroker, XC ported
Hot Rods stroker crank with Pro-x rod
1985 ATC cases
1989 Transmission
1989 Clutch setup with Neils mod
1995 CR250 reed cage with TRD reeds
Keihin PWK 38mm AS with divider plate and inteljet
Hand coned pipe, clear coated to keep wurks look
2001 CR250 ignition

Very cool. That's similar to my ride. Same frame and engine. I couldn't be happier with it and the arens frames are stout. I've crashes 3 times with it and the frame diddnt even budge!

It's called Exo-Armour, it was designed for military use and resists temperatures up to 2000F.

Here's a link to the product: http://www.eastwood.com/exoarmour.html

I was looking into that stuff too but the temperature rating was lower then i wanted. I wanted atleast up to 1500F,  exo armour was the only one that surpassed my minimum temperature rating. So far it has lasted, went out riding on my 268 for a hour and pipe still looks new.

Cerakote is some hardcore stuff. I've never sprayed the clear though but I'd assume it's the same as all the others

The only thing about Cerakote, it says it's safe up to 1100F. The flame front from the exhaust, a few inches from the piston can reach up to 1300F. So the problem that I see would be the Cerakote burning off at the header before the expansion cones. In the fat part of the pipe it only gets around 400-800F and then some slight increase in temps at the stinger.

Okay there is a change of plans for the intake. The 363 will be breathing with pulse injection, also known as inertia ram tuning intake.

There are some slight fitment but nothing that can't be made to work. I will be taking my porting tools to grind down the top of the chamber located at the top of reeds.

Here is a picture of the area that need some grinding.

I will also be getting a new fitting for the pulse tube to correct the other issue of the fitting hitting the coolant inlet.

With that thick of a spacer are you going to have issues with the carb hitting the frame once mounted?

There is no spacer, that is the pulse chamber manifold. The carb mounts on the end of the chamber like it would on a normal intake manifold. This has about the same length as a CR250 intake manifold.
