Sphinx 363 with 44 electron and trx11 pipe. Has around yours on rebuild.

Hard to say but engine is probably worth more alone than in the bike. If you're looking to maximize the money, I'd say part it out.

I had the cylinder replated by millenium and put a 78mm esr piston back in it. It also has new crank bearings and seals. Had local guy do it for me. Motor has 10 hrs on it. Guy I got it off of told me it was from bdt with drag port. That's what I know about it.

I just sold a full sphinx set up, pipe, carb, and ignition for 3500 but it wasn't a bdt motor, it was a hybrid engineering motor. I'm being honest I've been around a Bdt junk motor and you wouldn't get a dime out of me, it over heated all the time, never could get jetted. New sphinx unplated is 700 so just because it's ported doesn't mean it's worth more.

I'm not even a 100% certain it's done by bdt. I guess it would be nice to figure who has done the port job, but I'm not sure how to do that.

I'm guessing the person you bought it from didn't give you an engine build sheet with it?
Would help if we knew if the crank pin and/or tins were welded, cryo'd transmission and/or aftermarket gear set, amount of hours on the bottom end bearing etc. More pics would help too

I don't mean to offend you in any way, but it basically comes down to who built your motor... I had a bdt motor. It was a huge POS. I had to pay another guy a lot of money to fix all the problems. So you will be hard pressed to find someone willing to pay what you feel its worth. If it was built by hybrid engineering you would have people lined up to buy your motor. I personally am here on this site because I got burned by bdt. I think if you advertised that motor on the other site you will be more successful... Good luck and merry Christmas

why ask what we think its worth ? what did ya pay for it ? how much did ya put into it ? then ask yourself what it worth. after that post up a number ya want . you should try facebook maybe . also as we all know what ya got invested into it ya probably will not get back. an if ya part it out ya gotta deal with it piece by piece lots of people asking for pics an not buying any of it . good luck an happy holidays !

what crank was used ? are you still selling the whole bike ? for any of us here to help we need to know what is all on the atv like a arms,stem , swinger etc. some good pics will go along way . lots of guys here willing to help thats why we are here but we need you to help us help you. please post some pics an details as much as you know . we can help fill in the rest .

Based on what you say id put a price on it of $2500-3500. Depends on alot of things. Ignition, clutch, clutch basket, crank, brand of bearings and gaskets, and also condition interior and exterior. Powder and polish condition. We need pictures and more details. BTY I'll testify that BDT puts out very strong motors. Im running a sphinx 363 from them right now and it is great runner. No problems at all.

Condition of everything is biggest factor of price.

Moose gaskets and bearings. Hot rods crank and rod. Esr piston clutch basket is stock has some wear and clutch is new Barnett. Has broken chain guard mount. Bottom end is painted black with cylinder untouched. Engine covers are polished.

And it is the strongest and best running motor ive ever owned. And I've owned a couple. I personally have no reason to talk bad about Bdt motors especially the sphinx 363. Just saying that motor cost around $4000-5000 to build depending on the ignition and some other parts. And used I'd put a tag on it around 2500-3500 depending on condition and what parts it has.

Ask the guy who has my old sphinx about the differences in a bdt sphinx and a hybrid sphinx huge power difference and price difference, I can say that after working on one after Pete redid that same motor there was no issues with it. 17.5 to 1 pump gas dome in a 310? The guy that bought my sphinx broke the base studs and the ignition come a part after getting it back because they didn't tighten anything. You can build a better runner cheaper then a BDT motor even with a Shearer in frame like I had.

Can't even compare the Pete motor to coc. I paid I think 5500.00 broke everytime I ran it. Got banned for life when posted about it.

So I buy a quad with a bdt motor and no matter what I do it won't run correctly and its my fault? I take this same motor to hybrid engineering and Pete finds it has a 17.5-1 compression dome in it marked very clearly "pump dome". And it's on me why it wouldn't run? You sound just like the Carlos. When I questioned him he insults me and questions my intelligence. Pull your head out pal. If you want a good motor that really runs call Pete at hybrid engineering. If you want to be treated like dirt and have a pos motor call bdt

Let me put it this way, I seen a Sphinx 363 ported by rob selvy with a Hinson QC and cr 250 ignition sell for 3k,,,,,,, so value based on that and what you're missing

I sent the pics to pete. He said that the exhaust is opened up and the intake on the sphinx cylinders are good from the cast. So it doesn't need messed with.

I got 2500.00 for my coc motor. Doubt u can much more than that. Paid 5500.00 plus the shipping it back to 3 times because it broke during break in 3 times.

Send that sphynx motor to hybrid,jerry hall, k&t or Packard. Big difference. Puma 431 from one of the guys I mentioned would be nice as well.

Your going to have to go puma or saber to get close to 100 hp. Hit up Pete at hybrid he builds a lot of these motors.

In my personal experience a 65-70 hp 250R with a good rider can spank a 100hp shee on dirt. It's like a banshee needs extra hp because head to head in equal hp 250R should always win. I have a 100hp shee in my garage right now btw

I think a solid 431 Puma would be the ultimate 250r engine. I'll get one in the stable someday.

In dirt maybe because of wheel spin but sand or drags where they hook and belong we're toast unless you've got a hell of a weight difference.

You called it, weight difference is a big factor. My old trx11 ported 330 pro x motor beat a lot of drag banshees with my 140 pound buddy on it. I love how mad the banshee guys get when they lose to a r.

The banshee is a 10 mil twister crank. 72.2mm pistons. Pro-x monoblock with Pro-x head. Drag ported. 39 pwk a/s. 110 race fuel. Direct drive lockout. 2-5 override. Ct racing drag pipes. Needed new top end when I took it to the shop and still dynoed 100hp. Waiting for the new numbers, should be done this week.

One of my main riding buddies is a she's guy and has a 10mill dm and a 18 mill dm, he's talking about getting a serval cub now lol the 10 mill dm dynod 125hp and is the fastest bike I rode(didnt ride the 18mill). All his stuff is red line racing. The problem is they only go fast in one direction and I often feel like I'm riding alone because he can't keep up with me

I agree I love the way the r handles. Its a lot smoother than the shee in the turns. The shee has Marvin shaws and I tell you those are some nice shocks!

I'm already at 200 jetting at 7000 feet. My problem will be jetting for phx is about 1500 feet. I'm guessing a 215 maybe 220.

Low 4s is fast. And just to clarify I never once said my bdt was faster than the hybrid. Nor do I think a hybrid is slow. I just have seen banshees beating R's the majority of the time. I love my R and that's whybi want to build a motor for it.

This thread is way off topic. He simply wants to sell his 363 motor and start a larger build and thought he would ask what he should get out of it. As far as 363 vs banshee topic it always depends on builder, setup, tune, chassis, and most importantly the rider. However there is a reason the pros prefer building a banshee to drag and an R to track. Purpose engineering.
