:dejection: 05 trx450r or 06 yfz450r in 86trx250r? Complete motor with carb for all around play bike. Why? Pros/cons? Any experience doing conversion? Not concerned with max power. Just curious on everyone's opinion, I'm undecided.

How about an old school 350x conversion? Excellent set up for woods. There bulletproof & you can build the engines pretty good.

I like this idea if not putting an r motor in it

350x six speeds of awesome !

If doing old 4 stroke why not go for the gusto XR 600

Langbolt any suggestions or opinions??
i believe the XR motor would be too tall? maybe the others also?

The XR650R motor is very tall.....4-strokes are very tight to get into a 250R frame.....4-stroke frames are taller...Wrench U are you wanting a 4-stroke or 2-stroke Power plant ?

I have a trx450r, yfz450 and 250r motor that all need rebuilding and all the accessories to make them work. Just undecided on what to do with the bike. Just think electric start in R frame would turn heads. Ill take some measurements that will narrow down 4stk choice. Ill keep the R motor for the 88. Just wanted input or opinions.

I'm a fan of the Yamaha powerplant. Back in the day they were more maintenance free with longer intervals than the Hondas. But this was the dirtbike motors.
I forget the year, but the 06 YFZ may require the oil mod, but may have been the year Yamaha did the correction at the factory.
The advantage of the Honda is that the parts interchange more easily if I'm not mistaken.
Honestly though, hold out for an aftermarket hybrid chassis. It will make things more headache free in the long run since hybrids are purpose built to have that four stroke motor in a 250r type chassis.
This is all my opinion though

I have a complete lsr crf450. 5500.00 txt for more info 6027916612.
Stock 03 motor with extremely low hrs (was in a show bike most of its life) sparks exhaust, dream h20 cover, carbon lakers.
Pep shocks
Chrome dc4, front stem, and subframe.

Seems the 250r rebuild would be the most cost effective as the 4 strokes get a little spendy real fast. Could bump it up to a 350 for a little more.

Yeah maybe flip 4stk powertrains and step up and give Pete a call with a big wad$$. That's my delima? U said cost effective! Lol! I blew my first motor @ 15 haven't stopped since. Lol! How's my grill coming along Puma shine.lol!
