I'm assuming we are talking about Bill Ballance here? If so I would love to hear about the old school XC 250R setups that Arlan developed.

The cost of the doing this kit today with all needed parts and labor is $1148.00. This includes top end gaskets, o-rings spacer plate, long base studs, piston, sleeving, porting and reshaped head.
If however there is interest in this kit I would offer it for $999.95 through February of 2014. We have actually made some improvements since this article written.

Curious to hear more about the improvements made on this kit.  Any other mods needed for this kit?  Recommended set ups to use?  I'd like to hear more about this...anyone on here have this set up now?

I inquired about this cylinder a couple years ago and Arlen you had emailed me the dyno specs on this cylinder. If  you still have them it would be pretty cool to see again.

Yea I figured he would. Everytime Ive email him he replies promtly and informatively about his products. I was thinkin and I might of been wrong the info he sent me may have been on the 350pv. I inqiured about a few so it hard to remembed. Either way this cylinder is pretty cool I have sparks 300 I need redone and I think Arlen will be the man. Just don't want to waste your time until I have the money. Hopefully after the holidays.

Not yet but soon.  I pm'd Arlan.  I'm taking him up on the offer plus a pipe, silencer, and carb.  Hope to work out the details on Monday.  I just started an Arens Bros/Laeger XC build....have a bone stock 86 engine that will get the treatment.

I would give him a call and discuss it as well. He;s great to talk to about these engines.

Please keep us updated on this. I'm very interested in how the 300 resleeve kit performs

Had my conversation with Arlan this afternoon and I am happy to report that we came up with a plan.  He is the man.  However, my engine won't be this exact kit so I told Arlan we will have to call it the "Better than Ballance" XC package.  I will give a full report in a few months.  This is my first real engine investment and I'm pretty excited.  Decided to overhaul my 88 first!  That way I can finish my XC build and run it with my 86 until this is ready.

I'd be doing Arlan an injustice if I tried to explain the cylinder work...lol.  I ride 90% tight woods with the other 10% being fire roads/pipelines.  I'm no longer excited about having a violent hit so the goal is for this thing to pull like a freight train down low and transition nicely into a healthy midrange.  Generally speaking my jug is somewhat questionable so we will start with a new 300 jug and port it for the woods running ras gas.  I asked that he give the bottom end a hard look and replace whatever needs replaced to make sure she'll run trouble free for years to come.  He'll be providing me with a complete package - 38 air striker, vforce3 intake, and LRD pipe and silencer.  I needed that stuff regardless!  Best thing to do is talk with Arlan if you are serious.  He has solutions for every situation and is as genuine as they get.  The Ballance kit exists...just wasn't a good fit for my situation.

You will love your motor. My 350pv motor is very smooth for Xc racing.  I imagine that 300 will be perfect!!!
