Title: Jakes 363 Build
Post by: Grande huevos on March 19, 2016, 09:16:44 AM
I have my 89 that I've been building over the last 6 years just upgrading some parts here and there and for the most part it's been done.  but I've recently decided to have a motor built (the first time ever not doing it myself) and I'm super stoked! I bought a ESR 350 builder kit and sent it out to Pete @ Hybrid Engineering and had him go through the lower end and get everything up to par.  Glad I did that because my counter balancer bearing was going bad the holder was out of spec the main bearing housing was loose and the the deck height on the cases were off by quiet a bit... He also repaired a crack in my case, install new hot rods 4 mil, ported the cylinder And reassembled everything for me.   It should be back in my hands by Wednesday of this week and all I will have to do is install my clutch and ignition and I'm ready to rock!!

The motor will be accompanied by boyeseen reeds, 38mm air Stryker, K&M filter in a cfm aluminum box no lid,2001 cr ignition, ESR counter balance holder, Hinson basket with the oem HD kit, and a brand new ESR 5b pipe and silencer

And my new Pumashine front motor mounts which are beautiful!

Should be a sweet ride. Did you ask Pete about running that TRX5 pipe, with that size motor? Doesn't that pipe still have a 1" I.D. stinger?

I'm interested in hearing about how your motor is going to preform. I've talked with Pete about the ESR 363 vs a sphynx.

The stinger is 1 1/8" and yes when I originally started talking with Pete he said that the 5 pipe is a very good pipe and that he has built several motors almost exactly like mine with the 350 and 330s accompanied by the 5 pipe.. He said the standard pipe that I had would work fine but I could probably tune it better with the 5b..  I always thought that the B pipes had 1 1/4" until I bought this one and measured it. But I guess the difference is in the main pipe? I have another thread on here called "ESR 5b" talking about it if you want to check it out.

I'm interested in hearing how this motor turns out cuz That was my next plan for a motor having Pete build me a 363

I'm not sure about the sphynx they say they make a little more power but I can't imagine its that much More, at least to make up for the price difference.  I spoke with Arlan at LED when I was shopping around and he wanted like $1700 just for the cylinder

I rode Jared's (skeans1) sphynx 363 and loved it instantly. I have a esr310 built by Pete that will impress most people. So I will always have Pete build my motors. I think the power to cost ratio is pretty good on the ESR cylinders.

I'm having Pete do my next motor for sure

Here she is half way torn down, I did a few little things while my motor was out. New brake pads, front wheel bearings, pro taper Kevlar grips, my own custom touch on my skid plate with bed armor truck bed liner, and my wheel were beat up from the previous owner trying to change his tires so I sprayed them as well.

What cylinder do you have and how is it ported? What other engine components do you have?

There is no doubt I'm going to be happy with this motor! I was just curious how similar the build was to mine. IVe never used a dyno and don't really care about hp numbers because most people hype it up anyways but part of me wouldn't mind knowing what mine puts out just so I know.. Pete told me his numbers are pretty conservative but he said my specific motor build would be around 60 hp.

Between an esr, pro x, and a sphinx they'll all be pretty close mine was a duner and with me being jockey weight.

My wheels were beat up pretty bad from the previous owner trying to change out his own tires so I thought I'd try out some spray on truck bed liner.  I did some lite sanding with 100 grit then washed them down with brake clean and sprayed them. I havnt riden them yet but they feel very durable and I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out..

I've got the heat cycles done and a little light riding in.. Hoping to have her fully broke In by the end of the weekend so I can rip on her and give a ride report! So far she seems pretty kick ass and has a ton of compression!

I got her broke in and have started to rip on it a bit and it def has some power!! I still need to do a little tuning and I'm waiting on another rear sprocket because it burns through 2nd and 3rd pretty fast with 14/38 so I'm going to try 14/36 and see what happens.

Nice looking bike. You will love that motor. Just had Pete give my 330 love and it runs great.
