Title: 2016 XC 250R Revamp
Post by: Burns363R on March 21, 2016, 04:52:15 PM
So i have been putting a lot of my effort into my XC bike this year.  I have purchased a LT front end, went back to 250R spindles from 400ex.  Raised compression on my XC motor, new plastics and graphics, new Tires, RPM XC Dominator axle, and 9" shamrock rears from my 8", new bumper.  And coming soon an auto clutch i hope as well.

Here are some photos from the update thus far.  Need to get my graphics on and do some testing.  I have already been running my recently built XC 450R with a lot of success.  I cant wait to get my 250R out there.  I may even try to get out o the IXCR series in Indiana for the all 250R class some time.

Here is the bike last year.  And its progression through the year.  Also a shot of my 450R, it is getting a matching graphics package as well soon.

A guy  down near peoria Illinois had them. he bought a bike that had them on it and sold them to me.  They are pretty damn near perfect.  Going to be a shame to put holes in it for the hood.  Even has the front fender brackets with it.

Sweet graphics. Gotta say I do love the silver/grey plastics with the graphics from years past though!

I like those JD a-arms.

I would have loved to find silver full fender fullbores.  But i waited and waited.  Found one set that a guy spray painted a lighter silver.  Finally gave up and just bought the whites.  I want full fenders for XC.  Tired of getting covered in mud.

I'm not sure if I could run nice Fullbores in XC lol. Would hurt me every time I scratched up against something

hence why im putting a full coverage graphics kit.  The only other option was to buy new maier which was only $100 cheaper than these.  So... price is a wash really.

Have you done any bump-steer comparisons between the 400ex and 250r spindles yet?

Have u rode the Motowoz rear yet?  I'm surprised u didn't want to switch to cr500 or no link rear.  Happy with the stock link?

Still have a Axis rear and stock link.  Cant find a no link swing arm, and Im not ready to drop the coin for another CR500 link frame.  So im doing what i can with what i got.

Koq (kids on quads) makes a no link swingarm.  It's reasonably priced. Not as nice as a Roll. I've had one about 3 years now. Hoping to finally buy the shock this year.

I bet u did. Quads r looking great.  I really wanted a Roll but the Koq was cheaper than a used roll.  Jim from Motowoz had the Koq on his personal quad a few years ago.  He said it would be nearly as good as the 450r setup that I'm running which I'm real impressed with.

I have switched companies.  Psych MX graphics does them now.  They have been really good to work with. Super flexible and they have alot of art work to start with and then you modify from there. Plus they have templates for the front fenders.  I like Ian and SSI decals alot, but they didnt have the front fender templates.

Dang, those are some pretty big changes, Kyle! Looks like you are progressing well. I don't envy you having to put graphics on. I just finished up mine. It's not horrible, but I wouldn't want to do it very often! LOL. I really like the JD a-arms also; they look sharp. Another option for the rear may be this: Drew Cox @ Maul Tech is wrapping up the loose ends of the 450R swingarm, new linkage, and long travel shock project. They will offer the new long travel linkage and the new shock for sale. The shock will be a custom length (just like the cr500 and no link shocks). I am waiting for him to finish with great anticipation. Just thought I would throw that out there. If more people put pressure on him, he might finish sooner.
Can't wait to see what the finished quad looks like! Great job so far.

Ya i will be sticking with Motowoz from here on out.  For XC a no link makes sense to me.  I think thats my next step.

As far as graphics, i dont mind laying them down.  I have gotten pretty good at it.

Graphics are on.  Long term plans are an EFM auto clutch and a no link swinger. Probably a KOQ swinger and most deff a Motowoz rear shock. Enjoy.

Psych MX did the graphics.  They turned out really well.  Went on dry pretty easy.
