Who is still setup to build cr500 link swingarms?
-
Laeger for sure. maybe JD Performance can? its worth a call. Six 5 Design might (they were in the process of making a jig last time I was there)....not sure if was a CR link. Steve B. (is he a member here)? Sorry for not having a true answer to your question but some possibilities are better than nothing. good luck on your hunt!!!
OJ: just seen your post....Steve Buchinsky. I see you have already asked.

Thanks Joe. Good suggestions!

It doesn't show on their website anymore but I'm sure Walsh could build one being a site sponsor. May have to give them a call though.

i diddnt know JD made swingers. if he does i wouldnt hesitate to buy from him. i bought arms from him and hes a stand up guy that stands behind his work 110%

Would making a swingarm that utilizes the Yamaha link be an advancement ? Since the CR500 Link is obsolete.....and the Yamaha Link is readily Available ?
Or use the YZF450R Swingarm ? It is Cast Aluminum....so it would save some weight and possibly give you the Setup you're looking for ?
Just a thought..... :D

Cr500 links are available in billet now through ISF Racing. Super nice and affordable. They come with bearings installed too!
-
CRF450 linkage would be the way to go
-
My Walsh 250R has the CR500 swingarm linkage. My son's Walsh CRF hybrid has the 450 swingarm linkage. Both have Custom Axis rear shocks installed and when I sent them to Custom Axis for set up, there was a slight difference between the two linkage types when it came to shock lengths.
My son's could get PRS while mine could not. :(
-
But the CRF450 doesn't directly bolt up to an existing CR500 link frame and CR500 link swingarm, correct?
-
It has been a while since I compared the two but I do not think it is just a straight swap. I think the frame part is identical (again not sure) but the linkage is different.
-
is there any linkage that would bolt right up? obviously the shock link would vary.
-
From my limited knowledge of shocks and linkage, while "any" linkage can be bolted up, the leverage ratios and movement need to be ok from a "fitment" side and also the shock building must know those ratios to properly set up the shock.
I do know that the frame connection for the shock using the CR500 (or CRF450R) is MUCH different than stock.

This is a comparison photo of Cr500 vs Crf450 linkages I took a few years ago when I was building my quad. The one back one/right side is the cr500 linkage, I cant remember if the CRf fit sorry :/

tyson racing could probably build you the swingarm that you need.
