Title: modifying standard shock a arms into long shock arms

not 250r specific.

i have a set of standard shock arms and i want to modify them to run 1" longer shocks. would i take the lower shock mount and move it straight down an inch or do i need to move it out some and down some? do i leave the angle of the shock from stock and move the mount an inch lower along the angle of the stock length shock?
