Title: What seat cover and tank cover
Post by: Troy on May 08, 2016, 10:26:01 PM
I am looking to get a new seat cover, and a gas tank cover.  What seat covers are best for grip and durability.  What tank covers are you guys running, who all makes them.  Pros cons, and pics would be great.  With my silver plastics I'm thinking both covers black would look best, any other ideas?

I've had Cascade Innovations (http://www.cascadeinnovations.net (http://www.cascadeinnovations.net)) make all my seat covers for over a decade.  Great quality, lots of colors, and an optional "gripper" insert.  But for more MX look, I see a lot of guys using Fourwerx, Graves, and CEET.

Are you using the original seat foam?  I have noticed some get taller foam.

All good recommendations. I also really liked a factory effex gripper that I had. They are just a straight up solid black nothing fancy but made and work well.

Another option is Ben Lagrange. He does custom seats. Will do whatever you want. Has the grippy material as well.

Wow, lots of options.  Thanks guys. This is going to be a tough decision.  Anyone run the carbon fiber looking material, or have a pic of a seat done up with it?

It is not exactly what you are asking for but the looks of the factory effex texture blends nicely with carbon fiber.(http://forums.trx250r.org/vbulletin_imports/70_3100_2017-04-18_8931.jpg)

That is a clean look, alot better on the wallet than some of the others too.  Who other than Mayer makes tank covers?

I have a Factory Effex with a Carbon tank on white plastics and it looks good. Also have one with RED OEM fenders and a black tank and looks good too.

I've used the effex seat covers on other bikes before I had no complaints

These guys do some nice work. They will custom embroider any design, numbers, name you want. A little pricey, but quality materials.

That's what I thought.  Anyone install one of these before?  It came with instructions but I might have a local upholstery shop do it, don't want a wrinkle.

Not trying to scare you but make sure the local upholstry shop has done atv seats before. I took one to a local guy & it looks like he stretched it too tight in the front because the seat sits 1/2-3/4" away from the tank now. Plus the honda script on the back is slightly crooked. Your cover looks too nice to have it get messed up like mine.

OK, I figured an upholstery shop should be able to do a better job than me, I had them do a snowmobile seat for me once that turned out good.  I will quiz them first

An experienced upholstery shop all the way. It wont take them long. The last 2 I had done cost 2 12 pack of coors light bottles and the other a 30 pack coors light cans.
Its worth it to have it done correct.
