Title: Axle splines
Post by: muthahucker on May 20, 2016, 01:59:01 AM
Does anyone know what the axle spline count is on a lonestar axle and a durablue axle on the drive side?
I have an aftermarket axle that I got in a pile of parts that I thought was a lonestar axle.  The brake side used all stock hardware, so I bought a Lonestar drive sprocket thinking that it would fit.  I just got it and found that the axle has 39 splines and the sprocket has 40 splines... I guess what im asking is if anyone has a durablue axle that they know what the spline count is on it.

Its possible I guessed wrong and have a durablue axle, but I thought they wouldn't allow the use of the stock break side sprocket.

I'm pretty sure the axle hubs are 25 spline LSR and Durablue and the sprocket hub for the LSR is 39 spline.  Not sure on the Durablue?

I have a Dura-Blue sprocket and am using the STOCK Brake Side Hub....so maybe it's an ATC Axle instead of a TRX ???

You are having trouble with the BRAKE DISK HUB right ?

Mine has 24 splines on the SPROCKET HUB (Left side).... I'll count my Brake Hub tonight. I believe it's 39.....but I will confirm.

24 sprocket side on the brake side i would need to remove the brake hub to count ,this is a durablue. The atc axle is the same except 85 which the diameter where the bearings ride, but the spline count is the same for sprocket hub and brake hub. I could be reading your post wrong but what side are you having a problem with ? It says the brake side fits correct ?

Brake side has all OEM parts on it that fit fine... Its the drive sprocket side that I'm having problems with.. The axle is an unknown make.. It has 39 splines on the drive sprocket side.  I got a Lonestar drive sprocket thinking it would fit, but it has 40 splines... I'm guessing that  it is possibly a durablue axle and I would need to get a drive sprocket from them.

Durablue has 24 Splines on the Sprocket side & 39 on the Brake side.

If you have 39 on BOTH sides then , Like thesmith87250r said....you have a RPM Axle.....and will need a RPM Sprocket hub.

Looks very similar to that.  I'm pretty sure its not a lonestar axle.  There are no markings on the axle shaft that I can find anywhere.  Any pics of lonestar I have seen has a flat spot in the middle of the axle with its model info on it.

Got it all worked out and reinstalled in the 85 ATC now.  Lonestar sprocket worked, still no idea exactly what make of axle this is.
Thanks
