Can one assume that all oil will mix equally, meaning if I took four different types of oil and mixed each at say 40:1 that would perform equally with out the need to re-jet for a particular type of oil. I'm an amsoil guy myself but it can be a problem to get it sometimes. I usually keep some Klotz or Super M around but my plugs darken up a tad with those leaving me to believe that I should re-jet with different oils, which I don't want to do. I only use vp110 so that is not part of the equation.

Cycle country in Salem keeps amsoil in stock. I can get a case & meet you in the middle or ship it to you if you want to cover the cost. I'm about 25 miles W/SW of Salem.

Oils are not equal some will mix or will not mix with different things as well as some oils will not play nice together.

I dont mean mixing different oils together, just using different oils mixed at the same ratios seems to darken my plugs more than i like to see, which means harder starting, more smoke' etc. Thanks for the offer broken1. I can get the amsoil but with 3 two strokes I sometimes find myself without.

When you say "perform equally", that is a grey area to generalize from. ASSUMING that all four oils were designed to perform well at 40:1, then yes, you would be ok changing from one oil to another. However, some oils burn cleaner than others, and you are seeing the evidence of that on your plugs. My recommendation to you would be, keep to one oil. Buy a larger quantity to make sure that you don't run out.If nothing else, keep a "back up" quart bottle that you never use unless of emergency. Before it gets too old, swap it out with a new back up bottle. Yes, in a pinch if you do run out, you could use something else mixed at the same ratio.

i going to agree with everyone else, a new oil means a new setup on jetting. amsoil is super easy to get. its what i run in everything i own. im a dealer, if you want me to order some for you let me know. the cheapest way is to order it in gallon jugs. just always keep one on the shelf and you will never run out.

depending which klotz your referring to, most of them have quit a bit higher viscosity and flash point than amsoil. I would think these are the reasons you may have saw extra smoke or black plugs. klotz is intended for a high end race engine. I don't use amsoil but it seems like ive seen it at most napas
