I have a very nice stator from 86, and cdi, but cdi is hb9

All years are compatible with each other, and as far as the aftermarket stators go like Ricky  stator, are actually fine. Just always run a stock cdi.
Or you can go with the 00-01 cr250r ignition set up, its pricey, but well worth the money, and adds noticable difference in starts. It also revs faster, due to smaller flywheel,  and is a digital system vs analog stock system. Timing maps are far better too. Hands down worth every penny in tbe gains you get out of it.
