I think Kenny told me his was an 86 model R, but he had added the cross tube in the rear like the 88/89 frames for rear engine support.
Would probably use the shortest 450R swingarm, 04~05 which is probably 18" I believe.

Hopefully you can get some answers from this older thread: http://trx250r.org/threads/2790-450R-Swingarm-on-Stock-250r-Frame-Need-some-dimensions?highlight=swingarm

If you need any measurements from the 04-05 swingarm let me know. I have one with all bearings and bushings along with linkage. I plan on swapping it into my frame this fall/winter but the frame is a Lonestar no link not a stock frame.

have you considered a custom swingarm?  Tyson Racing does custom arms for $275.  Then you can get a specific length, it is made from chromoly tube.

The 04-05 is 18.5 ". -1 from a 85-87 atc/trx. The simplest way to do it is use the stock wishbone and an adjustable link. BKM aka Bryan Mulligan on facebook makes some delrin bushings for that swap.
It has worked great for me for a year and half so far.
