Title: Toy hauler advice
Post by: The norm on July 27, 2016, 09:28:38 PM
So after trying out a 11.5' camper and trailer for the last two years I've decided to look at buying a 5th wheel toyhauler. I've put 8 tires on and had two cracked wheels in two years. Anyway.... I think I want a 36' ish toyhauler with a 12' garage. I'm hoping someone here has had some experience with a 3612 raptor or a cyclone 3795 or something similar. Thanks Loren

I can't help with the raptor or cyclone however I've got a few cents I can give you. I've heard raptors are nice. Most of my experience is with pull behind models. Weekend warrior. I wouldn't touch them.  Cool features, weak frame. Gear box. Wouldn't touch one of those either. Cool features, cramped bathroom, frame and structure problems.  I like forest river the best so far. Had a t34sp sand piper pull behind and it was the most solid of the ones I've owned. Now I have a f38 shockwave 5th wheel also by forest river and I'm happy with it so far.  A friend has a forest river stealth and it is really nice.

I have had the pleasure of owning one of the worst bumper pull toy haulers. It was a 28' Tahoe transport. It was terrible. Towed poorly and was cheap as far as fit/finish go. I've read a few reviews and some people prefer a cyclone over a raptor. The two things I'm set on is it must be a 5th wheel and have a 12' garage. Thanks for your input

We have a 33 raptor fithwheel open. Have towed it 13,000 miles with 5-6 bikes in it and it's been great. The only issue so far is the water holding tank brackets/straps aren't strong enough and will have to be reinforced. In 06 we demoed a 36 raptor and pulled it with 4 bikes for 5000 miles with no problems. Overall I think you'd be happy with a raptor.

So for an update for anyone interested. We bought a 2007 Raptor 3712 yesterday. I feel like I got a decent deal on considering the excellent condition the hauler is in. We are very excited to get it out for a trip or two this fall. Thanks again Loren.

Nice setup!! I know many retired drivers from where I work that have Raptors,Fuzions, etc. If anyone is looking I am selling a 2006 Dutchman Victory Lane 36ft. triple axle in excellent shape.
