Title: Nikasil plating?
Post by: seth on December 13, 2016, 01:03:40 AM
I have the opportunity to pick up an older 310 cylinder.  I've been told it's at 73.5mm now and most likely will need to be bored.  I was wondering if going 74mm and having it nikasil plated would be an option I think this cylinder is an older sparks ported cylinder.  Is it possible to run 74mm on unbored cases and a stock transmission?

If the cylinder is currently 73.5mm, needing bored but would clean up by removing .25mm to .30mm it can be plated back to 73.5mm.  The plating is typically .10mm to .15mm thick on each wall.

Around $225 for plating. If it truly is a Sparks cylinder I would definitely get the plating done and preserve that bad boy. Shouldn't need to bore the cases for a 310
