Title: Farewell to my favorite honda shop
Post by: broken1 on August 01, 2013, 10:23:09 PM
I went into my local honda shop today to get some parts for my R & my friend at the parts counter told me they were closing their doors in a month! The shop's been open for 50 years & I've been going there for the last 25. For the last year they've been giving me a discount & I've been getting parts over the counter cheaper than I can find them on-line. This news completely ruined my day because the only other honda shop in town is a joke & the people that work there are a@#clowns, looks like I'll be ordering parts on-line from now on:hopelessness:

Sorry to hear that.  It is the same story with my local shops.  I remember before the recession these shops were full of machines and the parts counters were stocked with all kinds of stuff.  Now the machines are all spaced out and the parts counters are pretty bare.

I hate to see this. A lot of them that are hanging in there have yet to recover from the worst years. Things are still not back to the way that they were for them before the crash and never will be. They can just hope to get back to the old normal someday.

Luckly our Honda dealership is still holding on,our Kawi dealer went out of buisness but World Of Powersports bought them out. It is a shame that they took such a hit in this economy! I still fully support our dealer for everything oem, including fluids and even some aftermarket stuff. I get a 10% discount(basically no tax) which isnt much, and still pay more then other online Honda stores, but I try to keep it as local as possible.

Thanks to the internet that is stores are closing everywhere...As working for American Honda for years people do not realize that it isn't the bikes a dealer makes the money on...It's the parts and service....And when you have places on the internet that have way lower overhead selling their parts for almost half of what a dealer sells them for ..Dealers just can't make it anymore......Where I live we do not have any Honda dealers in the entire county.....WE used to have 6 dealerships just in our town alone.....Now we have one....and it's Polaris...

Sucks to hear...

I don't deal much with my local honda shop. Nothing but idiots behind the counter. Last time I called asking for a water pump shaft I was told by a young lady behind the counter that my bike doesn't have a water pump...

They were better years ago when they more knowledgable/people I knew behind the counter but they've gone to hell now.

Also go local power sports store first unless I'm gonna save a lot online. I do not mind paying more locally to an extent. I never used to buy from Honda shop always bought from a mom and pop store in my town

I'm the same way. Shit gets old sometimes here though, I know damn good and well I buy more parts and send more parts sales there way but time and time again I gut put behind so many and get shitty service.....

Not trying to discourage local purchasing but I found Ronniesmailorder.com had some good prices on OEM stuff.  Have to pay shipping but I get my stuff in 3 days like clockwork.  Also its roughly 20% under full retail for almost everything.  Actually just spent $400 with them getting all my engine bearings, crank seals and center gasket.  Even bought a new Coil for less than what Ebay has any new oem ones for.  I like it because you can order right off of their microfiche.
