Title: My project
Post by: Sand_Blaster on September 11, 2017, 05:05:45 PM
Hey yall, this is my small "kinda" build that I am starting. My quad has been giving me fits lately so I said screw it I'll revamp it a bit. Plan is to go to a duner set up, back to the factory 87 plastic, extended swing arm, super lights, new exhaust, 41mm carb, rtc air shrouds, esr goodies, and more chrome.  Atleast that's the plan. I am hoping to have this done by spring , because we're putting our house on the market., and I will not want it torn apart.
After pulling my gas tank I found out my head stay is cracked.
Good bye old buddy you served me well.
Holy smokes I have alot of polishing to do
(http://i63.tinypic.com/i73e2x.jpg)
This is the kind of a idea what I'll be shooting for. Except I am getting a blue hood from Broken1 and different rear plastic(hopefully)
Here's where I finished for today
(http://i65.tinypic.com/ju7248.jpg)
I start back up on school here in a few weeks, so progress will be slow. I am hoping to have most of my plastic polished and restored before then. Ill be ordering a new exhaust in two weeks, and if my tires and wheels sell on Craigslist, I will order the +4 swing arm.
Hope you guys enjoy

No real update today. I was supposed to be working on cleaning garage cause I gotta hang dry wall. I got distracted and messed around with my tin shed fried oem rears. After pulling the R sticker and seeing it so pristine under it. I actually may be able to salvage these. Or just say F it and buy brand new Fullbore plastic, which is possible. Hmmmm

This makes me think if you clean up a set of fenders. If you put a clear vinyl wrap over them. They should stay looking good. Maybe have to replace the wrap ever once and a while

Small update for those who may be interested in this project.
Took off my oem decals today with the help from a hairdryer. Thanks Kevin for the tip.
Also cleaned my tank to prepare for polishing
(http://i67.tinypic.com/14dnh1w.jpg)
Hopefully I'll get to start restoring my plastic this weekend. Other goals are going to be ordering some gas caps and other billet parts before cascade officially closes. Order some RTC shrouds and sweet talk my wife into letting me order a extended swing arm. Stay tuned there will be more updates to come.

Yah he was. I would have talked to him alot longer but my wife was freaking out, how we needed to get going. I sold my sand tires yesterday, and I am now trying to figure out what I want to order next. Leaning towards a +4 swing arm.

You can always use aircraft paint stopper to Darren. Then get it done yourself. I was lucky my friend had a sandblasting pot. So I did mine myself.

Post by: Sand_Blaster on January 10, 2018, 04:50:30 PM
I thought about that Gene but was told its very messy. I think I figured it out though. The frame will go to lakeside, OR for blasting, then Dad is going to take it to Winchester Bay OCP to have gussets welded in, and seat posts repaired. Then its going to come up here and I am going to get everything powdered. Currently looking for a good powder coater close by. This quad should be ready to run by spring break.

Was debating if I should even bother updating, but here is some updates regardless.
Frame and parts back. Tried to match blue to my oem hood best I could. This is what we came up with. Did not want red frame again.
This rebuilt led silencer is going to look great.
Chrome all came back months ago
(http://i65.tinypic.com/15s3fvo.jpg)
Traded for some flex bars
(http://i65.tinypic.com/r280lt.jpg)
Scored some free tires
(http://i64.tinypic.com/11jt47k.jpg)
89 oem decals for swing arm
(http://i63.tinypic.com/1eo3dd.jpg)
I think that's it for now.. Still need a ton of parts to be able to fully finish.

I like it. My next build with begin with a blue frame as well.
Title: Re: My project
Post by: Sand_Blaster on March 26, 2018, 04:57:44 PM
So I used a guy who I thought was a chromer. Turns out he is just a middle man, and sends out anyone's parts to all over, even to mexico chrome shops. I actually feel kind of lucky I got all my little nuts and bolts back. Here's a pic of the oem shifter where they didn't chrome it all the way. Where that round piece is that holds the rubber on is bare. There's also various other imperfections in all my parts.
I can already tell my parts will rust really quick. I'm still happy , but I won't go through him again.

Appreciate it guys. I put all the plastic and such on and its pretty close match. I got to get a new chain slider and I can mount the whole rear end. Then I need to get a complete stem bearing kit and mount the front end. It'll be a roller fairly quickly!

I've been busy with other crap haven't been able to work on this quad. I did get front end on. My buddy came over and helped me get stem bearing in.
Then mocking crap up, this issue came up. I'm hoping this is just because there is no tie rods on yet and just needs adjusting?
Still waiting on stem. Ordered four weeks ago, was told I'd take two. Said it was done a week ago still haven't heard anything this week.. Hmmm
