When using a CR500 Rear Linkage setup, Can a OEM Airbox with the OEM Intake boot from airbox to carb be used? Or does some modifying needs to be done?
-
I do not own the set up you are asking about but I've seen them in person. here is Steve Cleggs CR500 link Laeger using an oem boot with aluminum box. I'm thinking the oem box would have no issues but not 100% sure. the only thing I can think of is the aluminum box has more bottom clearance?

Thanks for the info its appreciated. I never had this setup so was curious what the best setup to use when using the CR500 linkage.

you need a box with more clearance. his air box is not a off the shelf aluminum air box.

I’ve used stock and aluminum airbox with oem intake . They work ok but the biggest issue I had was caliper hitting them. I ended up making my own box and running a roble carbon fiber trx450 intake . It opened the motor up a ton

those Robl intake tubes are nice and he has the numbers to prove the gains. theres a little more to intake beside a carb and filter.

You can use it but the caliper will probably (definitely) hit the back of the box

I never had an issue with caliper hitting the stock OEM box using a stock linkage with an aftermarket rear shock. Why would it hit with CR500 rear linkage? Because of more travel in the rear?

Yep that's what I was referring to in my previous comment
