Build is coming along. I rebuilt the entire motor, new bearings, and seals after soda blasting it. I put in a hinson basket, and hot rods crank. Still deciding what color to have the frame coated. Just purchased an ESR 330 bolt on that also has been trx7 ported. I could use some suggestions for initial jetting. I have both a 38mm and bored 40.5mm carb to choose from, pump gas, esr intake, boyesen rad valve with new pro series reeds. Right now I have a dog say pipe and see silencer. Running with br8es plug, all electrical is stock other than Ricky stator coil, and I put a bdt adjustable timing plate on. Any helpful ideas welcome, thanks.

started with this
-
finished the motor with a little shine
-
As it sits now

the original post was supposed to say FMF SST pipe and ESR silencer, auto text had it's way with me
-
Nice build looks good

Haha I hate when that happens

Thanks! it's slowly getting to be where i want it

Hopefully I'll get to there some day. I always want more

List of parts I've added:
Laegers +2+1 arms
Laegers swinger
Houser stem
PWR radiator
Full bore plastic
Trx450 stock front shocks
Boyesen stator cover and rad valve
Hinson basket and cover mod
BDT adjustable timing plate & case saver
Cert seat cover
RPM +2 adjustable axle
Wave rotors
ESR engine mounts, intake (box eliminated) brake res hanger, exhaust manifold, (330 cylinder soon!)
SST pipe, ESR silencer
Hot rods crank, wiseco piston
All bearings and seals
There is more on the way...
-
looks good. the only thing i would lose is the BDT parts, and get a pipe that will compliment that big bore cylinder.

Yeah, I'm wondering if an esr pipe would be my best option for the port work that's been done?
I'd rather get a duncan or a sparks set up
-
A little polishing and decal that I'm probably over excited about
-
Can't wait to order new gaskets and get this 330 cylinder on. Trx7 port job, bought it used but looks great. I just have no clue what to start out with as far as jetting, or which of my carbs I should use...

Polished shrouds

Good lookin ride there Blackburn !! That is a nice lookin 'R' decal too ;) It looks much better there than sitting on my desk.
Its nice to see some passion and enthusiasm back with these old machines. Its also nice to see some build threads back in the forums.
Keep up the great work :)
-
Looks great so far. I really like that ESR cylinder. For a carb I would just run a 38mm carb either the new short body or regular 38. Keep the updates coming.
-
Thanks guys, I'm doing what I can with what I have. Its been a dream to have this machine since I was a little boy when my parents took me to a atv race. My build is pretty boring to most of the others going on through here but it's slowly getting where I'd like it to be. I plan to get an ESR pipe yo match the cylinder and porting. New rear brakes in the works...little by little...snail speed

Great looking build! I'm curious, what did you use to polish your shrouds?
-
Very nice!
Here's the jetting I started with on my 350 build with 38 PWK carb
DEG Needle - Middle Clip position
52 pilot
180 main
1.5 turns on air screw
Those are really rich settings and I know you'll end up going leaner, but those are safe to start with
-
Thanks hawgpilot, lots of metal polish out there but I use Blue Magic metal polish that I pick up at Ace hardware. Just that and a couple of clean towels

That sounds great, thanks for your input. I always try to start out rich on jetting but definitely needed a base line. Thank you

I thought about this today and figured I'd post it. Very good info on jetting.

Thanks, I have seen that on Duncan's site before but forgot all about it. Ill do some research and figure something out. We currently have about 16" of snow on the ground so I have a little while. Still deciding on a pipe, would like an ESR trx7 to match the porting on the 330 kit, anyone know where I could find one? I'm awaiting a reply from esr but looking at their site I'm not even sure if he's still making them? Honestly I haven't heard much about the trx7 pipe so I don't even know if that's my best option.

I emailed ESR last week and he stated he would have pipes available in 2-3 weeks. I’m waiting for one too...
-
So I spoke with Eddie, and will probably go with the trx5, he mentioned I didn't need the big bore pipe. I have recently picked up some RPM front hubs, and a 40.5mm TMX carb, gotta clean those up a bit. Waiting for a little more warmth in the garage, I haven't yet set up my wood burner for it yet. Just need to build a heat exchanger...and I just bought a new project...
-
My "new" f250. Not really a project, needs nothing, almost zero rust on frame.
-
Glad to hear the build is progressing

Did he mention when the pipes would be in stock?
-
Thanks, and he said 3-5 weeks, I think I spoke with him 2 weeks ago? May have been 3. He assured me no need to place an order but I saw his site said pipes are coming, place orders....I don't want to miss out on one but I also talked to him about making a works finished pipe...much further out.
-
I'm too excited and broke...I can't wait to load up my 88R, into my 80' f250. This thing is close to immaculate...just got it tonight so I'm going a little crazy. I'd start it up but I have a 4 yr old boy who's asleep and really wants to go for a ride. I'm going crazy staring at it through the window
-
I understand what you're saying. I have a 83 crew cab dodge I've been doing a Cummins swap on. Been way to long of a project. Gets put to the back burner to often

Good luck, sounds like a fun project

Been a while...this is the progress

Pipe side
-
Looks really good! I did a double take at first. Looks a bit like mine haha
-
Powdered the frame a dark metallic gray, tmx carb, rpm hubs, polished all aluminum, new esr 5 pipe and silencer, esr brake and shift pedals, picked up some hiper wheels. Speaking of, anyone looking for 10" orange rings? I want black. My rings are in excellent shape. I think that's all I've done since march, I've been busy with life. Have only put around 6 gallons of gas through it but am very impressed with the 330 esr pv and other upgrades.
-
Thanks 2nubs, still a work in progress
-
How do you like the tmx carb. Was it easy to tune
-
Sharp looking build!
-
Hickwheeler. The tmx was already tuned for the most part, as it was set up on an almost exact duplicate of the parts I chose for my machine. Put everything together and it ran great. All except for the fact I'm having major carb/intake/frame alignment issues. I haven't had much run time unfortunately
-
Havinnoj thanks, like I've said earlier in this thread, it's nowhere near some of the other builds here but I'm liking it more and more.
-
You running a cr intake
-
I run a rad valve, tmx, then the esr airbox eliminator kit with a k&n
-
Is it a trx rad valve
-
I guess I'm not sure of the answer on that one, came with the original engine and it was polished
-
Take a better pic of it on the bike. If it is a cr one. You might be able to help your issues with a reed spacer
-
Will do when I can, although I tried a spacer and it did not help
-
Then don't worry about it.
