Title: In Need Of New Rear Shock
Post by: F-Red on January 19, 2018, 07:04:14 PM
Wow, are shocks crazy money.  :o My rear stocker needs some love. Probably best to buy new. Jet Suspension offers one of theirs for $800. I ride flat farm land and trails. No jumping. Are there any other options? Thanks.

You should be able to get your stock rear shock rebuilt to your weight and riding style as well as recoat the spring for around $200-$250 from most suspension guys..

The rebuild route is the economical way to go, if you have a working stocker. My shock holds oil, but won’t hold nitrogen. Parts are limited for these 30 year old relics. I’ll probably send mine off, for the evaluation.

When you rebuild it they will totally disassemble, clean and replace all necessary internals as well as PC the spring. In my personal experience I was very happy, the shock looked like it just came from the factory and performed great.Ive used Jogaca out of Az. Great guy, great price, quick turn around..

SF Racing does complete PEP heart transplants for these old stockers. They can make that old relic look and perform brand new

Putting money into the rear shock is one of the best things you can do IMO.  Rebuilds can be had for around $300 with spring. Otherwise you've seen the pricing for new aftermarket options.

I'm having a rear shock rebuild but am looking for some new reservoir mounts.  Anyone know where I can get them?

I haven't found the time to remove the shock. Definitely going the rebuild route.
