In my hunt for an aftermarket chassis - I generally have ruled out CR500 link options as I don't know of dune style swingarm builders who will make an extended arm - which is what I want/need for the dunes. However, there is a nice frame option with a CR500 link.
- Is the CR500 upper shock tower offset (and thus the swingarm linkage mount is offset too)?
- Are the swingarm pivot / shock mounting / linkage mounting points different from CR500 to no-link?
- What else do I need to be aware of?
-
I can only speak for Laeger frames but....
cr500 and no-link upper shock mounts are identical, and offset to the right for intake clearance and what not
Swinger pivot between OEM/cr500/no-link frames are identical
Lower linkage mount on cr500 is offset to the right as well
I've seen Steve Buschinsky make extended swingers for duners. But if you're looking for an arched swinger or something along that style you'd have to ask him.
Finding good condition OEM linkage is tough as well. But Steve makes new linkage too

can someone invite Steve Buschinsky, to the forum? It would be nice if he could show off his work and help us all understand what can/will and will not do.

I believe he already is a member but not sure he's been on here in a while. He is on Facebook though, and active. He's good to deal with. I believe he runs/owns ISF Racing.

Thanks Clay. This seems in line with my research. Theoretically I should be able to run a no-link swingarm on the Laeger Frame though I may have to remove the lower linkage mount. I talked to Steve and he can make an extended CR500 link swingarm if needed.

Yup. Limited interactions with him but the ones we have had he's a straight shooter.

I saw on Steve's facebook ISF Racing that he is making replica Laeger Frames, I seen a couple Laeger Narrow's with CR500 Rear setup. I wonder if he would make a Standard Front with a CR500 Rear setup? I also saw he is making Swingarms, I'm wondering if he could make Pro-Trax Front Ends as well??

I'm not in the Facebook world but I don't doubt he can, I believe that he runs the protrax himself and sells rebuild kits for the protrax. If I was in the market for a chasis, id be having a serious talk with him.

It's about 1.5''-2''. I can get an exact measurement after work

Appreciate it clay.

wasn't the offset shock mainly for quads from the hybrid days? i bet there is plenty of clearance for a 250r intake. someone correct me if i am wrong.

Here's an ISF and a Laeger - both new. Basically identical. Steve runs a little smaller diameter pivot hole so you got to grind the goofy cr500 flange bolt to make it fit. That’s a bolt that needs a replacement since Honda discontinued. Sure would be nice if someone could play around with a crf450 linkage.

Finally got out to the garage to snap a pic of the offset. It's offset about 1.5'' to the right.
