Post by: jfwyatt1 on August 06, 2013, 10:43:13 PM
which tranny gears are better for woods riding `85-`87 or `88-`89. im tearing down my sons motor and replacing crank and was wondering which gear set would be better to use (i have 1 of each)? we do mostly trail riding in western NC and eastern KY. thanks guys

so i take it that 1 is not preferable over the other for woods?

Only 6th or 5th are different. Down low they are all the same.

I think 87-89 is superior for most all riding conditions. If you are not using 6th gear then it makes no difference. The trails I ride I use 6th gear so I appreciate the newer trans. 5th gear changed so slightly that I don't think you would notice.
