What is the going price for a gallon? It is 15 a gallon for 100 octane here. What are my options to get cheaper fuel? Look for distribution center in Texas.
-
$6/gallon here for 110 Renegade out of the pump. $4/gallon for 100LL at the airstrip by my place.
5 gallon pales ain’t cheap though. I think VP116 was ~$80 for a 5 gallon pale last time I was at the race shop.

10 a gallon for trick here in my town
-
6 dollar a gallon that what I am looking for.
-
I'm paying $8.45 per gallon in SW Washington
-
$100ish for a 5gal pail of C12.
-
$8/gal for VP110 at my local gas station. We have a few race tracks nearby so they find it beneficial to keep that pump flowing
-
Holy smokes, $20 a gallon is wild.
Tbone, same here. Drag strips are plentiful down here and the closest gas station will normally have a Sunoco or Renegade pump. I currently run 100LL on a pump dome and it is the same price, if not cheaper, than ethanol free 93.

Maybe it's like $17-18/gal. That's like $40-100 extra for a weekend dune trip ride but comes with less frustration dealing with fuels that have varying specific gravity - like VP110. So I just take advantage of higher compression and less headache.
-
I can understand that. Race fuel out of pumps can vary and you never really know how old it is.
Fuel is cheap compared to a new top end and a ruined weekend.

Yep, the incremental cost is minimal compared to what we have in these suckers.
-
I pay 9$ per gallon local and 10$ at the track. For Cam2 110.

This is true. My buddy blew up his ISMA super modified motor running race gas from a gas station. If it doesn't have a purple hue to it then it's gone South
Luckily so many people in our area race at the local tracks during riding season that the gas is always fresh. I've had good luck with it so far, I just make sure it's got a purple tint. Not very scientific but what the hell.
Are there any quick octane testers you can buy?

Yea, down here I think it stays pretty fresh with all the racing going on. I also never run anything on the ragged edge, timing or compression wise. I was always careful in my turbo car with what fuel went in and where when the boost was cranked up, but forced induction is a different ballgame.
When I get a new dome cut I will request that it be appropriate for 100 degree ambient temps and a motor octane of 106-108. Should keep it plenty safe even with pump 110.
I think the only quick or cheap method of verifying fuel is checking the specific gravity.
