Title: 1986 250r front spindles ?????
Post by: Ant1986250r on January 23, 2019, 05:04:33 PM
Anyone know which spindle is better to go with 88 or 89? I found Lonestar billet Hobbs and also streamline rotors that will bolt right up to them the only reason why am changing the spindles because I can’t find a good set of rotors for my 86 .I’m really not thrilled about converting to a 400 EX front set up.I found a really nice set of spindles on eBay but the guy that selling them doesn’t know if they are 88 or 89’s and the guy am ordering the billet lonestar hubs from needs to know if they are 88 or 89 .this is what they look like

The spindles you posted look good. I’d say the 89’s are the best design (the tapered spindle shaft).  So, since aftermarket hubs are almost non existent for 86 and 87’s...purchase the niceset 88/89 spindles you can find.

Yes believe those are 88 spindles.  It's been so long since I've ran anything besides a tapered spindle design but *I believe* you can use the 89 hubs on that spindle AS LONG AS you remove the 89 tapered collar and use the correct bearings.  Memory a little foggy here.

Yes they are the nicest ones that I’ve came across and lonestar will make the hubs for the 88 style spindles . I just needed to confirm what I was actually buying because with full overhaul builds sometimes it could take more than a year to complete and by the the time you actually get to assembly the parts were purchased 6-8-10 months prior then your kind of stuck if they are wrong

I have a set of 89 spindles with lsr hubs(3 bolt rotors) good calipers and will send new bearings with them for 250 shipped. Pm me an I will text you pics. I'm not savvy enough to figure out how to post pics. I'm sure plenty of people will vouch for my credibility...
I also have a set of 88 spindles with oem hubs and calipers for 175 shipped.
