So i am having problems with alignment of my carb on my project 86.i spoke with mr sonny and plan on purchasing an intake on payday, however do you guys think i need a spacer as well.thanks for the input.the car is hitting the frame and im uncertain if the 1/2 in will help or will sonny's intake help

I'd imagine the spacer makes it worse since moving the carb back further makes it difficult to get the air filter boot on. What are you running for an airbox / airfilter setup? Have you tried the UPP manifold? It's much more pliable than those OEM type boots IMO.
-
that is exactly what i thought im running an airbox eliminator. i will guess i will try the upp and see im gonna try and shape it with a heat gun see how much i can get it to move. thanks for taking the time to answer. i will grab a upp and see if sonny's billet intake will help as well either way due to the big cylinder it is throwing things off.

I would definitely see how the Sonny Fricia intake works. I seem to remember some pictures of his intake and the OEM intake with carbs attached, and his intake really helped out the aligmnent.
BTW we'd love to see a build thread for your quad. Post a thread in the build/projects section!

i would get sonnys intake and a short body carb.
-
thanks for the advice gentlemen i did not think about the short body carb that make sense and i am planing on seeing sony's intake boot as well.thanks for all the input guys. i will definitely post picture for you guys in the project section.im almost done.thanks again

Boy Howdy! You sure got the shine going on that cylinder. Tony (Pumashine) would be proud. An UPP worked great for mine. It appears Sonny's works too. Seeing the pictures he's posted.

Would like to see some pics of that trike! Looks like a really nice build.

Promise to post a ton of pics almost finished.

carb alignment is spot on with sonny's intake for me with my 87 trx frame. I still have no room for the spacer plate. arlen ported and built my esr 363 cylinder. his reply was he also cleans up the inside of the cylinder where the reed block bolts in and it would be fine for me to run without a spacer. also sonny's intake is designed more for an esr reed block. a v-force 3 does not match up you will have to taper the plastic reed cage/block out a bit to get a better flow.
-
thanks a lot mr douglas I pretty much got it squared away now.
