Title: Brake pad options
Post by: 2Nubs on February 14, 2019, 12:03:43 PM
What do you guys recommend? I figured I would ask as there are all sorts of compounds and brands. What works and what do I stay away from?

This will be for my back brake. Might even be going on a well used factory rotor.

Not that I'm at all hard on rotors and pads riding sand but I've always gone with Galfer and/or EBC.

Thanks OJ, one more question. I'm getting conflicting info on model year specific pads. Some are listed as 86-89 and others are listed as 86-87..

I guess I can look in the service manual and see if the numbers are different.

I believe they are all the same. 86-89 fits all.

Yeah pads are interchangeable between all 4 years.  Rotors on the other hand are not.

I found similar info on Shindy master cylinder rebuild kits. Found one that was listed for 86 only & than 87-89. The 87-89 rebuild was quite a bit cheaper so I got that one & it works just fine on my 86 mc.
