Anyone here running lights with a CR250 ignition? What kit or parts did you use? Any and all info welcome.
I'm looking to add a small 6" light bar behind my front bumper and I prefer to not use the Ballistic Batteries setup that I currently have.
Ricky Stator or OEM trx ignition are not an option at this time. I am partial to the benefits of the CR ignition and want to continue running it.

Unless your already dead set on putting the light behind the bumper you might want to reconsider mounting it higher up. A friend had an 88 with lights in the bumper & it was hard to see in the dunes at night with them being that low plus it cast a lot of shadows.

Thanks for the heads up. I’m not against a handlebar mount at all. Figured the bumper mount would not be optimum but better looks wise. I will look into a mount for my bars. Thanks

Your handlebar mount idea and it's reasoning brings up a very good point. Having an'86' there are drilled/tapped holes that could be used as a mount, and even the stock headlight frame could be mod'ed to support an Led light bar. The mount could be simple enough so that it could installed for that occasional night ride and removed the rest of the time.

I'm seeing a kit on Steahly Offroad. Anyone here used it? Surely some of you dune guys are running lights. Do most of you just run the factory trx ignition?

The handlebar light is a much better idea, i run a 13" rigid on my handlebars for the 10 Hour Heartland challenge. Unfortunatlly stock ignition is the only thing i know of that works. I believe LED is working with some over seas company that has a good ignition setup that will perform as good or better than CR250 and has a lighting coil, but i havent ran it yet.

Thanks. Looks like the few aftermarket coils aren't getting very good reviews. I'll install my Ballistic Evo battery back under the hood for now. What a bummer.

The only reason i haven't run CR ignition in the past is because there was no lighting coil. Gots to have lights

That's a dilema when using the CR ignition. There are aftermarket stators, some claim 35 watts, some claim 50 watts. either way, that's not a very big light, and i like leaving some buffer too which makes it an even smaller light. LED lights help here with there low wattage, but you will have to float the ground, and add a rectifier / regulator to safely run one.
