Hello. Going to upgrade my front shocks. Seriously considering elka stage 5 fronts. Anybody running them? if so how do they measure up as far as comfort goes ?
-
Well Joel Hetrick, and a host of other MX, XC, and desert racers use them. So unless Elka is passing them out like candy for free, i'd bet it's a great shock choice. I know they're the unofficial shock choice of Roll Design.
If you do go with Elka stage 5's I'd hit up Jedediah Bunch from Roll Design. He knows quite a bit about them.
I've only run HLS and PEP so i'm not directly familiar with them

any aftermarket shock will be an improvement over stock shocks. and any properly set up shock will be light years above that. i have only used PEP so i cant speak about elkas. if the pros are using them they must be pretty good.

I would get custom axis if i were buying new. I have heard of too many having trouble getting elks dialed in. that is the reason i went with custom axis. I have also had HLS, and they are great shocks, however, not available anymore.

Has axis switched to aluminum shock bodies yet? Elka and Motowoz are both aluminum. Way lighter and better heat dissipation.

What does axis use to make their shock bodies?
-
Most shocks had/have a steel body.

Burns might be on to something. seeing how he is still an active racer.
