Title: Dxx needle for 38AS?
Post by: atvmxr on March 19, 2019, 11:49:04 AM
HI all, currently my R has Air screw 1.5 turns out, 55 pilot, 178 main, 7 slide, CEL needle in middle clip. 38 AS. I’m at sea level basically and its lean.  I upped to 58 pilot, 182 main, needle in 4th spot from top and its still a bit lean in the 3/8" throttle so I think its time to put a richer needle in there.  I have seen all sorts of Dxx recommendations, trying to get a concensus of which needle to order.

.080 over, MX port, Rad valve, TRX6 pipe, cool head 22CC dome

I too am close to sea level. Eddie Sanders as well as several guys from the forum advised me to try a DGH. Seems to be the most common I have read about for the R's. After some fine tuning mine seems to be running very crisp.

58 pilot seems really big. Have checked for any air leaks. I think I have 55 or 52 and dgh needle. I'm running a larger carb. Also larger motor
