The distance collar is not the same according to the parts diagram.  The 86 ATC and the 86/87 TRX is part number 42621-HA2-670 and the part number for 88/89 TRX is 42621–HB9-770. I also just checked my Honda Service Manual and it does show the spacer washer. I’ve never seen an aftermarket axle Carrier that used the collar “spacer”.
